Do You Think the Clinton's Would Endorse Obama Right Away? |
|
This came to mind when I started thinking about the period after Hillary Clinton eventually calls it quits...or has the nomination taken away from her. I personally believe the Kitchen Sink strategy is in part a 2012 strategy...but there could be a whole host of issues going on. Clinton could be trying to create a situation to force Obama to offer her the VP slot. If I were Obama, the last thing I would want is the Clinton's and their supporters in the Party trying to pul the rug from under me. But what if he DOESN'T offer her the VP spot(assuming the strong likelihood that she still loses)...do you think the Clinton's would endorse Obama right away? Or would they continue to spite him and make him wait? They'd have to endorse him eventually...because it'll be BIG NEWS in the media if the most well-known and powerful family in the Party held out an endorsement of the Party nominee to spite him.
I know not to expect her or Bill to do any campaigning for Obama...but how will it look if they don't endorse? Better yet, what will it do to their legacy? I believe once this election season is over, and voters tempers lower and we have a new President and new topics...the Clinton's can regain their standing amoung Democrats. Though, this election I think has changed the views of a LOT of people with regards to them. There's a thin line between being driven and being power mad...Hillary Clinton crossed over from driven a while back. This is now more than that, it's more about stroking their ego it seems like.
But like I said, if they never endorse...half the Party I think would always hold them in much more contempt than they typically would. Talk about divisive...

3. Yes -- if nothing else, I think that'll be part of any "brokering" that goes on. |
|
I think something will have to be negotiated before the convention, re: Florida and Michigan, superdelegates, and who knows what else. I don't think the DNC wants the schism to continue, so if she wanted to, HRC could hold that out as a bargaining chip of some kind.
Having said that, if the Clintons didn't support the Democratic nominee, THEY would look like jerks. (They would BE jerks.) But it'd still be detrimental to the party.

If Hillary loses, I believe Hillary and BigDog will endorse him. Not only that but Bill will be out on the campaign trail for Obama. Bill loves that kind of stuff. Remember in 04, Bill had Open Heart Bypass Surgery and in a week from surgery he was out going off on Bush talking to the MSM. Then in October Bill was making speeches for Kerry in Florida.

|
Your reaction is what I call a "Squibb". It's a new word, but I don't think it's in the dictionary yet. It's people of today overreact to what MSM says this week, it will be forgotten then next week the same people will overreact to what MSM says next week. Basically, what it means is the MSM leads the general public around by the nose.

Like her more than McCain, when the scope of the failure of Republican economic, domestic and foreign policy becomes clear (it's just starting to now) they will be licking their wounds and looking for a compromise that looks more electible than the neo-cons - Hillary will be waiting when they're ready.

Further, I couldn't possibly insult you any deeper than by identifying you as a Hillary supporter.
I retract my insult, and I apologize to everyone who acts like a dick or whom I've called a dick.
Let me rephrase: "Quit acting like a typical Hillary supporter. You're embarrassing all of us."

Who made that poster the grammar POLICE. Anyway, I have followed the Clintons from when BigDog was AG in Arkansas, he and Hill will endorse Obama. They are very honorable. People really love Bill, but, with Hillary, she is harder to warm up to but she really is a good person and her heart is in the right place.

We have determined according to our criteria that you are likely to commit an offense at some future time, and should be punished accordingly now.
Geeze, what is WRONG with you people? You sit here getting yourselves all worked up AS IF YOU COULD READ MINDS. You sound an awful lot like the right wing media - you might want to think about that.

|
What's with the apostrophe-s on Clinton, anyway?
If you want to refer to both the Senator and the President, that's the Clintons--two of them. Not the possessive.
I notice that a lot of people make that error, which makes them appear....unschooled.

|
If a person takes the time to spell check and doesn't notice then in you're werds ....they appeer uneducated. I realize the you are just trying to help but it does not always come across as that. Last week I was literally overwhelmed with the world and a friend who is terminally ill. Being corrected for improper grammar was really the least of my problems. Just saying that you did not do it to me but the person who did had no idea of how that response effected/affected me. Peace, Kim

16. A clue: did you happen to catch Bill talking about the Obama's campaign sensitivity to criticism? |
|
Bill told the world that if you can't take it, quit. If you don't want to risk getting clipped, don't put on the pads and play football.
I wonder what Bill's advice was to Hillary prior to her borderline hysterical, "Shame on you, Barack Obama" speech.

27. I have this horrible feeling the Clintons will endorse McCain |
|
-- for several reasons. First, I think they will be very, very bitter because they both have developed a huge sense of entitlement about regaining the White House. This was supposed to be the "Clinton Restoration," and I can't see them endorsing the person who prevented it.
Also, the Clintons have generally not been supportive of other Democrats' runs for the WH at best, or have actively sabotaged such efforts at worse.
Hillary is looking toward 2012 and McCain's presidency is her only shot at 2012.
Lastly, they have all but endorse McCain already. They would now have to "flip flop" to endorse Obama.
The only factor that counter-balances the incentives for them to endorse McCain is that Hillary will still be in the Senate, and she is likely to bet that the Dems will control Congress, and to exercise power in the Senate she will have to be in good standing with the party.
