Obama camp reaction to Clinton backers Pelosi threats...
Clinton backers warn Pelosi on superdelegate rift
Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:03am EDT

(snip)
The Obama campaign said the Illinois senator would support the election efforts of House Democrats no matter what the outcome of the nomination fight.

"This letter is inappropriate and we hope the Clinton campaign will reject the insinuation contained in it," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said.

Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said Clinton had made the case superdelegates should exercise independent judgment about who would be the best for the party and the country.

"Few have done more to build the Democratic Party than Bill and Hillary Clinton. The last thing they need is a lecture from the Obama campaign," he said.

2. The Clintons have helped destroy the Democratic Party
Under Bill's Admin the Dem Party lost power and members.

The reformation of the Dem Party began with Howard Dean's Prez campaign and his DNC Chairmanship began putting the 'democratic' back in the Democratic Party.

7. Reminds me of something my mother used to say.
"I brought you into this world, and damnit, I'll take you out!". Seems to sum up the Clintons view of themselves with regard to the Democratic party.

6. Pelosi earned a fan today
I have been lukewarm on Pelosi for a long time.

But telling these me-first fat cats where to shove it, well, that's pure gold.

God bless you, Mrs. Pelosi.

18. I misread
I thought Pelosi had something to do with this.

Duh.

I withdraw my fawning for when she does rebuke them (hopefully).

Pelosi's Office Responds To Clinton Supporters
By Patrick O'Connor

Mar 27, 2008
(The Politico) Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), responded late Wednesday night to a letter by supporters of New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton urging his boss to stop making comments about the superdelegates respecting the will of Democratic primary voters and caucus-goers:

“Speaker Pelosi is confident that superdelegates will choose between Senators Clinton or Obama -- our two strong candidates -- before the convention in August," Daly said. "That choice will be based on many considerations, including respecting the decisions of millions of Americans who have voted in primaries and participated in caucuses. The Speaker believes it would do great harm to the Democratic Party if superdelegates are perceived to overturn the will of the voters. This has been her position throughout this primary season, regardless of who was ahead at any particular point in delegates or votes.”

The Clinton supporters had asked Pelosi, who remains neutral in the presidential contest, to refrain from making comments that could influence undecided superdelegates to back the candidate with the most votes - who, at this point, happens to be the New York senator's rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. But Daly's comments suggest the speaker will not be backing off of her stance any time soon.

8. The Clinton camp attitude
""Few have done more to build the Democratic Party than Bill and Hillary Clinton. The last thing they need is a lecture from the Obama campaign," he said."

is what the whole thing has been about from the beginning and more.

10. What the fuck does that response from Singer even mean?
THEY'RE the ones who threatened Pelosi and the DCCC! Obama's campaign is exactly right--that letter was grossly inappropriate, and she should apologize for it.

15. Seems it means something like "we own this party, so don't question anything we do!"
Hillary's campaign is really going down in a flaming wreck. For a while (before Ohio and Texas), I had thought she might avoid this fate.

12. So let me get this straight....
They are OUTRAGED that anyone dare call that letter "inappropriate"?

At a MINIMUM it's inappropriate. At a MAXIMUM it's extortion.

They live in an entirely different ego-maniacal plain than the rest of us.

16. Not to mention...
it speaks volumes about how much the Clintons and her backers actually care about the party. We wont give you money if you dont make is so Hillary can win. WAAAHHHHH! All Democrats should have a problem with this kind of attitude. Not the Clintons!

23. Why do the Clintons think we still owe them?
We gave Bill two terms in the White House. Isn't that enough?

Once again, Obama's camp said the right thing.
