Updated-BREAKING: MSNBC anchors call on Obama to give another major speech on Race/Wright
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 11:53 AM by Tropics_Dude83
I kid you not. They just said that these new "pastor pages" are a huge huge deal and they think Obama needs to deliver another major campaign address on Wright. "One more time" they said. David Gregory echoed this.

WTF?? Are we going to talk about this 24/7 for the next 7 months? This is outrageous. E-mail MSNBC and tell them to stop their blatant attempts to Smear Obama.

Media in the tank for Obama, my butt.

Update: During Obama's major economic speech today, MSNBC cut it off in the middle. Did no analysis of what he said and noved on within 2 seconds to Obama Wright bashing!!

58. How dishonest everyone is on this issue.
If you were really interested in Hillary's "faith" you would listen to the interview she gave last summer on the matter. It is posted at cbn.com - interviewer's name is Brody. Go find it, listen, and stop saying stupid stuff.

http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0207-34.htm

And the board Hillary Clinton sat on was rabidly anti-union, was exploiting sweatshop labor around the world, discriminating against women workers, forcing workers to labor off the clock and destroying communities that did not want them. This should not be a shock: Clinton was a partner in the Rose law firm, one of the most active anti-union law firms in the country

101. As he's updating the Wright issue, perhaps he'll have time
to explain why he lied about his knowledge of Wright's speeches in his interview with Anderson Cooper. When Cooper asked Obama 'what did he know and when did he know it' regarding Wright's inflammatory sermons. Obama said he wasn't there and had no knowledge of their content until they were revealed by the news media. Obama's testimony during the Cooper interview is in direct conflict (lies) with the clarification speech he gave in PA.

If the media is so intent on Hillary's Truthiness and feels events from 15 yrs ago are germane to the character and worthiness of a potential presidential nominee. Then what seems to be the holdup of the news-media taking into account the gaping discrepancies in Obama's Cooper interview, then coming forth with a sudden epiphany in his PA speech?

Why is the news-media giving Obama a pass for selective amnesia in the Cooper interview ignoring his deception of the public during that interview?

When it is apparent, the general public is experiencing great discomfort and restlessness with Obama's conflicting interviews because now, they realize Obama is not the man they thought they were supporting.

If you need a refresher... here is a video making the comparisons:

you could tell they were STUNNED last night and this morning when their own polls showed that despited two-weeks of beating up on Obama, his poll numbers were virtually unchanged ...so, they are kicking it up to Fox levels, to see if they can have the kind of impact they think they ought to have on people's opinions...they don't like when their influence appears to wane....

They're trying to make this primary about Rev Wright. The last time I checked, it was Barack Obama who is running for the Democratic nomination, not Rev Wright. For the folks who are still harping on this, I have one question. Have you ever disagreed with your priest, minister, rabbi or iman?

Look at MSNBC's web page and their sudden "concern" about Chicago's (hmmm... why not Omaha, NE's or Blacksburg, VA's, etc. - because guess who hails from there?) teen killings... complete with the requisite picture of 2 black teens?

Yep, you can tell which way they are going to go. They are mad that their whole strategy was smashed and they couldn't have their way making sure that Clinton gets the nom so that she can subsequently be destroyed by them in the run up to November. All for the ratings.

37. How naive can you be?
The media was in the tank for Obama - until they weren't, and now it's time to help their good buddy John McCain glide into the White House.

When will DUers ever learn? It's not Hillary Clinton vs. Barack Obama - it's the progressive movement vs. the corporate media. Period. Every single controversy in this primary, on either side, has its roots in the media, who love to build someone up and then tear them down.

And you fall for it, every time. You can't trust ANYONE (and yes, that includes KO) whose paycheck comes from the corporate media. They're playing the game on a totally different field.

If Democrats don't figure this out, it's hello, President McCain!

i was initially shocked by the preacher, but seriously this is getting stupid...who cares what obama's pastor printed in some pamphlet or whatever? do people really care? maybe obama's campaign wants this to make it seem overblown and overdone.

45. And he didn't even write it!
Wright didn't write it. The church's publication re-published an op-ed that was in the NYT or something.

This is infuriating.

48. Write their ADVERTISERS instead and threaten to boycott their products.
Your letter to them will go in the bit bucket.

Threaten to boycott their advertisers, and then suddenly they respond. This is the only way to halt this crap in its tracks.

53. The only answer is to write them in protest, boycott their advertisers, and fucking
stop watching. Progressives are their biggest audience, and they're doing their best to wreck our presumptive nominee for ratings, it's clear. Imagine if FOX constantly dug up stuff to harm McCain, day after day--they'd lose their core audience. Well, maybe MSNBC needs to lose ITS core audience. Shut it off, stop rewarding them for their sensationalist smears.

After writing numerous emails each day to a variety of their addresses complaining about their coverage, I finally sent them one saying their network added nothing to the national debate and I was turning them off with the exception of Countdown. I'm done writing and watching them.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/18/obama-race-speech-read-t_n_92077.html

We can play Reverend Wright's sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she's playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we'll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.

That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, "Not this time." This time we want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children and white children and Asian children and Hispanic children and Native American children. This time we want to reject the cynicism that tells us that these kids can't learn; that those kids who don't look like us are somebody else's problem. The children of America are not those kids, they are our kids, and we will not let them fall behind in a 21st century economy. Not this time.

This time we want to talk about how the lines in the Emergency Room are filled with whites and blacks and Hispanics who do not have health care; who don't have the power on their own to overcome the special interests in Washington, but who can take them on if we do it together.

77. I think all networks are doing it when they see the other gaining an advantage in polls.
I think the only winners in this right now is the media. They are treating this like a WWF match. They would rather through dirt then debate policy. It just creates a big audiance for them. Keeping the polls tight is their game.

94. Have A Speech On How
our MSM have been hijacked by, and become mouthpieces for, five or six corporations. Remind them (and the American sheeple), how they cheer-led Bushco into the Iraqi invasion. Remind them that THEY are directly co-responsible for the deaths of countless Iraqi's and the deaths of four THOUSAND American servicemen and women. Remind Democrats and Republicans alike, how the 'Telecommunications Act of 1996' destroyed any journalistic integrity the media once had and had once strived for.

I think Obama would do a wonderful job with this speech.

100. Don't be upset
All I see is the media being desperate. It is actually, in a sense, good news.

First they can't believe all their attacks didn’t ding him one bit.

Second, it shows that they don't have anything new, otherwise, they would have started a new line of attacks already.

They will probably run this for another week or two, and then try another poll. They will fail again, just as they failed the first time.
