The public refuses to be scared by Rev. Wright (according to Obama's poll numbers).. and the common-taters on MSNBC right now
...just don't understand it! - - "How do you explain this?" (Question from an idiot TO an idiot just heard)

People stopped buying the Wright storyline when Obama told them he didn't share the views of his pastor, and that was what people wanted to hear.

6. Ummm, Because most americans have been to church and they know what goes on? |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 03:21 PM by Bleachers7
If you go to church you hear the war is wrong (or right), abortion is wrong, and the poor get screwed.
We've all got crazy pastors, uncles, pizza delivery boys in our background. They don't speak for us.

That doesn't mean you believe everything they say. I have a mechanic that believe 9/11 was an inside job. I don't go to him for national security info. I go because he knows how to fix cars.

|
That was the awful thing that Tamron Hall said Rev. Wright said....I still dont get what is so bad...and he said garlic noses talking about Romans 2,000 years ago who cares. One of their guests said he smeared Italian-Americans...saying that smears Rev. Wright. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

30. It is my considered opinion |
|
That people who actually think, who employ reason and logic, generally keep to themselves, whilst the Sesame Street sound bite types overreact every time somebody breaks wind and scream "the sky is falling." They are the ones who react to drivel, and the marketers of information thus conclude that the public wants drivel.
This board is perhaps representative of that phenomenon. Post something mildly opinionated but brief and the same old cast of characters chimes in, often using cut-and-paste from their last outraged, nay, incensed! post to whack you over the head or tell you how brilliant you are. One could conclude from what makes the "greatest page" that DU is full of morons, but I doubt that is true. It is just that morons think the "recommend" button is like the answer button in Jeopardy! They think if they even obliquely comprehend and agree with part of the post, they'd better "buzz in" with the rec button and quickly post their congratulations. But post something thoughtful and perhaps a bit complex or nuanced, and the likelihood is it will sink as people go channel surfing for a shorter, simpler post where they can join the greek chorus.
That is the behavior that drives TV "news" programming. Many surveys say that the public thinks it is a "vast wasteland" but yet the ratings stay high for the waste. So "tastes great" and "less filling" continue to duke it out. They keep babbling about what they THINK is significant because a handful of the idiot fringe whackjobs they use as "contributors" think it is, and the public gives it a big old yawn. Sadly, though, they aften keep it up long enough to get people thinking it actually DOES matter.

dropping despite them playing Wright 24/7. David Gregory's show will surely be awful today. When he was on early he tried to pick through the polls to highlight anything at all towards Obama. The anchor kept saying Obama is ahead in this poll but that was BEFORE the latest scandal. LOL LOL
