Will John Edwards be given the nomination at the Gathering of Elders??
Now that Obama and Hillary have divided the Party and damaged each other, its time for Edwards - someone who will beat McCain where he has support to reenter and emerge from the fray unscathed.

O Sagely and Wise Elders - please bestow your Wisdom on the party and Save us from ourselves.

9. If you think the party is divided now...
it will be obliterated if something like that should happen.

11. No - he was a weak candidate in both the 2004 and the 2008 primaries
winning only one competitive primary in two years. He was then a rather weak VP. If they were going to unilaterally give it to anyone, they would likely pick Gore.

12. Your question reads like a push poll:
"Now that Obama and Hillary have divided the Party and damaged each other..."

Obama hasn't divided the party. He hasn't been perfect, but he has not contributed to the damage that Clinton is doing to this party. Her behavior makes it clear that she is unfit to be President, and it truly saddens me to say this. I loved when she and Bill were in the White House. Although I supported Kucinich, then Edwards, I was also excited about the prospect of a woman president, especially if it meant Bill would be back in action along side her.

Unfortunately, most of their actions of late have been reprehensible. This is truly a sad time for the Democratic Party.

13. I think he's got about the same chance as Carter at being the next president
Save us from ourselves? We did by ignoring Edwards for a second time. ;)

15. In a parallel universe, maybe, but not this one.
I would like the conventioneers to start from scratch and nominate a candidate that has the background to be President and star quality to get elected, but it won't happen because it doesn't look Democratic. It would mean that the primaries were a joke and that people's votes don't really count. Well, it appears to me that this is the case anyway, but our leaders know they can't be that blatant about showing how it really is. So the war will continue for delegates and any other way they can massage the numbers. It will be either Clinton or Obama, not Edwards.
