I think the Clintons are BLUFFING about taking it to the convention. |
|
They talk about taking this to the convention but that would be stupid:
1. Even if she won at the convention the party would be so divided she wouldn't win in Nov. 2. If she lost, it would kill any chance she had at running in 2012 b/c she would always be blamed if Obama lost (and if Obama won she'd also be out of luck).
So the only hope the Clintons have to get back in the Whitehouse is to get the nomination much earlier (say in June) and hope they can drive down support for McCain and unite the party by Nov.
I think they are bluffing to try to force the DNC to agree to a superdelegate primary, even though there is no such thing. A superdelegate gathering is not necessary. The superdelegates should just put Obama over the top once he gets more than 1/2 of the possible pledged delegates.
The Clintons are ruthless, but they aren't that stupid. That's why I think a convention fight is not going to happen.

no matter which of the remaining candidates is pushed over the threshold by the Super Delegates to win the nomination.

|
Not by a long shot. And if they think it is "their" party, then they need to have it ripped out of their hands.
This party belongs to the voters. The Clintons don't own it. Not even close.

Let's at least pretend the voters have some kind of role to play in this process, huh?

It seems like her goal is that she needs to 'outsmart' someone to get her way. She won't lose unless it takes every last ounce of energy she has. She's going to the convention, I'm sure

To Obama and the Clintons will HAVE TO THROW IN THE TOWEL! And if Hillary wants anything to do with this future administration she needs to concede.
Don't think for a minute, however, that Clinton's camp doesn't know that she is currently being bolstered by Repug support. The Repugs know that keeping Dems off-balance also keeps them from putting the smackdown on McLame.
And remember: polls mean NOTHING!

14. I think you're wrong on #2 |
|
In fact, you're wrong on #1 as well, because she knows she won't win the nomination.
But if she can destroy Obama enough so that he loses in November, then in 2012 she can claim that it was because he wasn't experienced enough to take on the Republicans, and that they should've gone with her all along.
She is trying to get Obama to win the nomination, but lose the general election so that she can run in 2012. She did the same thing to Kerry in 2004.

23. It's not a matter of stupid - |
|
It's tunnel vision. The same kind of flaw in processing information that kept us in Vietnam for years after it was obvious it could not be won.
Even if you grant that she is a good, solid liberal (though there is evidence to make doubts not unreasonable) she refuses to see RW support of her campaign, whether in punditry or campaign donations, as anything but genuine support, while any objective observer can see it as an intentional strategy of dividing the democrats, making us vulnerable in the general election no matter who is our candidate - with the already known and acknowledged rifts, there is no amount of outright election fraud that will not be explained away as "it's all because of Hillary" or "it's all because of Obama".
I, frankly, believe we have already lost this next election on that very basis. It will be stolen, and explained away as "the dems ate each other".

24. Well whatever it is, I like it (but I'd like it better if she suspended her campaign). |
|
I would like her to inactivate her campaign. But if she will not, this blather is a good thing, as it only alienates key figures who have it in their power to move things toward a conclusion.

38. what the heck do you think a primary is....a tea party....of course you go after your opponent |
|
If you believe in your candidacy...you fight for it, with all you have in you. If she didn't fight everyone would claim she was weak. I think all that she's tried to do to expose that empty suit-obama has been actually relatively easy so far. Take it all the way to the convention Hillary because more and more is going to come out about the 'money man' obama....i.e. Puerto Rico and his illegal promises to gain campaign contributions there.
Fight On. That's what this important race is all about. That and who gets to appoint Supreme Court Justices.....and this should be Hillary.
