Hillary starting to say the right things?
<clip>
Clinton spoke out Thursday in Fayetteville, North Carolina, regarding party unity, and she had a warning to Democrats who may consider sitting out the November election or even voting for McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee.

"Please think through this decision. It is not a wise decision for yourself or your country," Clinton said. "There are, in my view, significant differences between Sen. Obama and myself, but those differences pale to the differences between us and Sen. McCain. I intend to do everything I can to make sure we have a unified Democratic party.

"When this contest is over and we have a nominee, we're going to close ranks, we're going to be united, and I have no doubt about that, because the most important goal is for us to put a Democrat back into the White House next January," Clinton added.

But a look back shows that primary animosity has carried over into the general election before.

Sad that the things the dem candidates agree on don't get the MSM headlines that their disagreements do. As an Obama supporter who admires and respects Hillary (despite her campaign), let's hope to hear more like this from our candidates in the next few weeks. And let's hope that the supporters of both can show the class and grace, in victory and defeat, that their respective candidates will no doubt show once this primary is officially settled.

to drop. hilary's done this act before and if she really means it then time will tell and she'll earn it. No taking hilary at her "word" from me until proven otherwise.

wins the nomination Hillary and Bill Clinton will support him 100%. I know that I will.

14. Wouldn't It Be Nice if Obama Would Say the Same for Hillary Before the Final Decision.
But yes. The Clintons are fighters and "soldiers" for the Democratic party.

But I believe there are a lot of people who are going to be in for a whopping disappointment with Barack Obama.

It's common knowledge anyway. Even repukes don't have the stomach to vote repuke this year.

7. She's said something like this before..
..not in the exact words, but she has said that she would support the Dem nominee if she loses and would expect her supporters to do so too. In fact, she's said that more than once in the past.

10. She's going to get dogged right here in this thread.
She can't do anything right in the eyes of some. If she does, they refuse to see it.

She's too strong. She's too weak. She fights like a guy. She cries like a girl. Blah, blah, blah.

Thanks for the post. I remain hopeful that the two candidates will sort this out and give us the ticket that I can be very, very proud of.

hope this is a change in the tenor of this campaign, but we'll see in the weeks ahead, I still remember that ohio debate performance vs. the post-debate conference.

But in the meantime, this is good.

20. it was all in her tone of voice
She said that jokingly as if the people who were considering McCain were just being silly.
As if this isn't really a possibility.

She wasn't trying to help, only to get a bit of good press.

22. I'd like to give her credit but I think it is all calculated
Virtually every progressive Democrat I know in my circle of friends, and that includes a lot of them who were loyal Bill Clinton supporters, say the same thing: Hillary is out to win at any cost. I think that perception is hurting her a lot and she is now out to soften that image. Thus the conciliatory statements.

Nothing happens by accident with the Clintons. Every word is part of the plan.
