Who will win Indiana?
Why is it a tossup? Wouldn't it favor Clinton? Why do many think Obama would win if it's just like Ohio?

explain please.

2. Obama was polling ahead there a while ago.
But Hillary has Evan Bayh who is popular. It would be nice for Obama to win.

4. Indiana will go Obama.
Turnouts will come heavily from Gary, Indiana and its surrounding suburbs - it's a bedroom community of Chicago, IL.

7. It's hard to predict...
Indiana is the most conservative state in the Midwest, IMO, and most Democrats are of the 'blue dog' variety. Trying to accurately predict whether Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama will win is going to be problematic, at best. Sen. Bayh is extremely popular with rank-and-file Democrats and, as we know, he is Sen. Clinton's #1 fan in Indiana (and likely near or at the top her 'short list' of VP candidates).

My prediction:

Sen. Obama by a whisker, due to HUGE turnouts in Lake County (Gary).

11. Obama.

Indiana can be an odd duck at times.

Evan Bayh is more conservative than Ohio's Howard Metzenbuam, for example, or Illinois' Durbin and Obama, but as other in the thread have pointed out, Obama should enjoy considerable support from Gary, Indy, Bloomington, and West Lafayette.

The 1968 Indiana primary featured favorite son, Gov. Roger Branigan, who lost to east coast liberal Robert F. Kennedy.
