"Too Liberal" --- CNN had a disgusting news report about Obama
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 11:42 PM by Armstead
Did anyone see that horrible CNN report by some bimbo reporter about how Barak Obama may be "Too Liberal" as if that were a crime?

It was the worst piece of "journlism" I've seen in a long time.

The whole premise was that despite his denials, Barak Obama may be guilty of being a....God forbid...Liberal. The whole idiot story was based on innuendo and some asshole from some think tank.

Liberal. the word was used as if it were the same as Baby Killer.

If the Democrats -- including Obama -- weren't such wimps, they would be defending the word Liberal. But that's anotehr story.

If this story were on Fox News, it would be woreth nary a mention.

But the fact that CNN ran it shows just how far down the tubes television news has sunk.

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a LIBERAL. So shoot me.

meaning "baby". It was originally applied to dumb men; lately it is used for dumb and sexually promiscuous women.

You will not see any NATIONAL candidate embrace the term... and only way to put an end to this is for a national candidate to do such, and remind the country that the Founding Fathers WERE liberal

we don't have CNN actually

That said.. I hate to point this out, but if that was Candidate Clark, and Nominee is far different if you get my drift

I hope that whoever comes on top this year will put an end to this nonsense from the press by telling the next idiot

You are a Liberal?

SO! Liberal and proud just like the founding fathers... or words to that effect

And my respect for General Clark just went up by leaps and bounds, THANKS

mine has been very high for him ever since I heard him as an analyst on CNN.

This show was some years ago, Maher's show was ? on HBO maybe? I didn't see it at the time. That was just about the time General Clark became a candidate, I believe.

But I do hope whoever emerges as THE candidate does run on a LIBERAL and PROUD meme

57. I think he thought about running this time;
many of his supporters were waiting and watching for that to happen. I suspect that he didn't because he couldn't accumulate enough funds or promises of funds, and I think the reason for that is because hrc had done such a bang-up job in that respect.

As to corporatists, I agree with you. And i kind of suspect that's why he couldn't make a longer showing in '04, and same for '08; he would have been their worst nightmare (as he was Bush's in '04.) They can't handle too much of that. (Notice how Joe Biden did, money-wise this time? same story, I think.)

I'll be writing in, as I have done since wjc 'beat' Tsongas.

33. The average Amnerican is a mix of liberal and conservative
In the last presidential election, a couple of the same states that went for Bush also passed a raise in the state minimum wage.

The political/media landscape has been shaped by the elites to seem conservative. But if you look at most issues related to Wealth and Power, most Americans tend to support liberal ideas. They also are socially libertarian, which is the same as liberal on social issues.

I don't know why or when THAT word became anathema to Democrats, but we've got progressives, liberals, lefties, DNC and DLC, among others, all serving to confuse dems and weaken their/our sense of solidarity.

Then there are 'social' liberals and conservatives and 'economic' liberals and conservatives.

61. Obama should do what Kerry didn't do and defend the term
One of the things that infuriated me in the 2004 was Kerry's waffling and running away when asked the question "Are you a liberal?" on some show.

He hemmed and hawed and said he wasn;t concerned about labels, etc.

I think if Obama would come out and say something like, "Yes, I am a liberal. A majority of Americans support liberal ideas like Social Security, workers rights and economic fairness."

If they accepted the word and made it respectable again, that'd defuse it.

compared to McCain Obama is a liberal.
Compared to Clinton not so much in many areas. Perhaps not all.

i am certainly wary of his potential to hew to a conservative middle in key social issues such as women's rights and gay rights and their ilk.

71. Amen.
If he or Hillary would grow a pair, especially regarding health care, I'd be able to vote for either of them in good conscience.

75. Grow a pair of ovaries you mean. Right. Hello chipster
I think Hillary will be less likely to get rolled on the health care issue when confronted with the lobbyists and the retrograde, reprobate congress.

It ran into a brick wall before but this time she will be determined.

66. Notice how no one ever calls someone "too conservative."
You just don't hear that anywhere. And yet, they have practically destroyed our country with their conservatism.

67. If a reporter asked me that question, I'd turn around and ask if she and CNN were "too corporate"...
... for Americans to get their news from. Too bad the corporate media has too much control over the content we get or someone would do that!

69. In America it's the opposite of a Tory -- I wish we'd use the word Tory in the US more
Imagine a campaign in which John McCain said "I'm a Proud Tory."

78. I was watching something today about that
But someone was interviewing Obama and said to him he was too liberal and he just kind of laughed. That's what I remember.

79. Yes. And they just ran the package again now. Jessica Yellin (I think) said he wants to raise
taxes (even though just today on The View he said he wants to CUT taxes on people making $97K or less and roll back the tax cuts for the very rich). They showed some guy talking about how he wouldn't work with Repubs. or has no record of that or something close, when Obama has worked with some of the most Conservative Repubs. in the Senate. They topped it off by saying not only is Obama the most liberal Senator, Hillary is 16th. :eyes:

82. I wonder how they would of reported the founding fathers who called themselves liberal.

It's only closely related to being liberated from the British.

86. Did you hear the "solution" to his "too liberal" perception?
The guy was suggesting that Obama should run his campaign just like Bill Clinton, i.e. run as a moderate and water down legislation to get Republicans on board. God damn DLCers.
