I thought Obama was magnificent on The View today!!! |
|
He is so captivating! Whoopi asked him what would be the first 3 things he would do if he were elected.
1. Call all national security advisers together to draw up plans to responsibly start removing troops from Iraq.
2. Make health care available to all Americans.
3. Evaluate the energy crisis.
He also handled Elisabeth with ease as he handles all problems. He will make an amazing President!!!

I listed actual policy that he said. How is that swooning?? How is that drinking kool aid? The 3 things that I listed are important to me, and this country, and he addressed them. Why do you have a problem with that?

I'd like to say "neutral", but that wasn't really it either.
It was an inscrutable look, but not so interesting as one would care what she was thinking.
LOL - I've probably just over-analyzed it, I'd say just chalk it up to Whoopi Weirdness.

51. How much time have you given to studying him and his record? |
|
It is a steady work for improvement and government cohesiveness. I know he was not my first or even second choice, but maybe he should have been. He reaches towards a place we what a leader to reach. He isn't just in our corner or theirs, he sees no corners. He seems to seek the best way for all of us.
If I'm wrong and I'm taking a chance, I'd rather chance what I know about Obama than what I know about McCain.
You don't have to love him. He will be our employee not our spouse. I think he can do the job. He's not in this alone, and that's another thing I like. He takes us into our own government. He's not afraid of Democracy and he's responsible enough to not scare off the RW's fear of Socialism.
He's got more charm and consistency than Hillary and he can out cool and outwit McCain. He is still growing and has not yet jaded or corrupted.
He might yet impress you, if you consider his potential and stop making him jump through hoops. In the bigger picture < compared to anything in the * mold he is # near perfect.

Others in this thread have done a good job of summarizing. You probably have heard by now that Barbara made some comment about him being sexy. Elisabeth brought up taxes and he reiterated that he wants to roll back Bush's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Sherri (I think that's her name - I'm not a regular viewer of The View) made some comment to Barbara about this affecting her.
The Wright issue was discussed. He asked Elisabeth how she would like it if the only impression people had of her was a 30-second clip of the 5 stupidest things she's ever said.
Someone asked him if Michelle would sit in on policy meetings. He said she wouldn't and that her focus would be their own children, and most likely, other children's issues.
They also said they wanted him to come on again, to which he said he would. He also said they should invite Michelle on cause she'd dish the dirt with them.
It really was great and I hope to catch a repeat somewhere. :hi:

70. She said she was intrigued by him after his 2004 speech |
|
but after learning he sat in the rev. Wright's church for the last 20 years, she does not believe he meant what he said.
She asked him the question about taxes. He said he doesn't like to pay taxes either, that democrats have a (false) reputation of liking to increase taxes, and, in order to combat the large deficit, he would likely turn back the tax cuts the wealthy have received. She jumped in and said, "Oh, so you will INCREASE taxes!!!" I think she wants that sound bite hannity's show.
He handled her perfectly, all in all.

37. When John Kennedy appeared on the Jack Paar show, |
|
Paar had told his wife and daughter, who were back stage, that they weren't to say anything to anyone about anything that was ever discussed at home, re: the political candidates that year (1960). He went on to say that he and his wife were registered Republicans but on the other hand his friendship with the Kennedy's, especially with Bobby, was well known and who they would vote for would be a private matter. After that show Paar went back stage and his wife and daughter were both wearing Kennedy buttons. He started objecting and Miriam said "He put them on us!" Paar told this story to Ethel and Bobby on a night shortly before the election when they were on his show and I have it on an audio tape. I was 16 years old that November and had a reel to reel tape recorder that I put in front of the TV to capture programs like that, not knowing the historical value they would have one day, especially in view of the tragedies.
My point, and I do have one, is that I wouldn't be surprised, no matter how much she talks up McCain, that Ms. Elisabeth will actually vote for Sen. Obama when she see them side by side. He has "it". We've been waiting for someone with "it", eh?
