Poll question: How has the Hillary supporters' boycott affected GDP?
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 12:51 PM by senseandsensibility
I'm a labor activist, and I understand the purpose of boycotts very well. Is this one achieving its purpose?

Are they so unsure of their love that they need to reassure each other?

57. we're called supporters
at least, that's what I call the Obama activists here.

And, most of us are here independent of any organized effort outside of trditional support for a campaign, like I assume Obama folks are.

14. Oy
I'm too tired and/or lazy to dig up the old threads. But I will give you the rundown as best I can remember.

Apparently some Clinton supporters have their own message board outside of DU. Word has it that they conspired to boycott GD-P for a week and then plan a return to, I don't know, do stuff. Some made goodbye posts and some never really left.

40. There was a planned boycott
It's not an invention of Obama supporters. Tuesday was going to be their last day here for a week. That's why quite a few Hillary supporters were posting a Maya Angelou poem Tuesday night right before midnight.

I've noticed that a few of the more prolific Hillary supporters have been missing since. They have another board that a DU Hillary supporter started to congregate at now.

They chose to leave by themselves. If they're that upset with some of the Obama supporters on here, then maybe it's good that they have a place for themselves to congregate.

I'm retired and have mucho time every day, but even I wouldn't be at all interested in conspiring for a boycott on DU. That's over the top IMHO.

Also since so few people seem to know about it, what good was it? A boycott has to be acknowledged to work...

58. My opinion...
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 07:36 PM by skater314159
... the rhetoric has cooled considerably - but there are still a hard-core cadre of Hillary supporters here who are, in my opinion, delusional.

I don't mind honest debate with members of DU who support Hillary... what I hate are the people who have a "agree with me or I will attack you!" mindset. I also don't appreciate the http://journals.democraticunderground.com/skater314159/168"> emotional blackmail I see Hillary and some of her supporters here on DU employing. The whole way the boycott was handled smacks of the traits of emotional blackmail and BPD.

I think that the "boycott" has had the opposite effect than what the boycotters wanted... it has made us appreciate their absence... which is never good in a boycott situation.
