115. Well I'm flabbergasted that anyone would support the person that is tearing

the Dem party apart for her own personal ambitions. Supporting someone who is ruining a sure thing with her Rovian tactics. That's certainly enough to make anyone angry. I'm certainly angry at Clinton. Her supporters simply amaze me.

Do you not see that side of it? How people can be upset at perpetuating the machine that is destroying the party and its chances at winning the presidency when it is of utmost importance that a Dem get in the oval office this time around?

Again, I'll make my disclaimer.... I'm not an Obama supporter, but I much prefer him over Clinton.

139. That "tearing the party apart" meme is bullshit
The party is NOT being torn apart, #1, and number 2, if anyone is doing any harm to the party, its the whiners.

I don't support either of them, but will vote for whomever gets the nomination.

And people are forgetting an important part of the primary process. It's a very recent developement that a nominee is chosen BEFORE the convention. The convention is historically where we learn who the nominee is.

I keep hearing about the Obama/Clinton supporters who say they won't vote Dem unless their candidate is the nominee. I keep telling myself, okay, those are just the die hards whining about losing and that when it comes time for the GE they will come to their senses, and that they are a small percentage of the amount of people who will vote in the general.

Also though, this year we really need to have a nominee before the convention or McCain will continue to get a free ride. At least in the last couple days both Obama and Clinton have managed to criticize McCain, let's hope they keep it up and leave each other alone.

That's awesome! Will that $$ go to paying her debts still left in Iowa?
Or her unpaid health insurance for her staff?

Or the unpaid debts to small school districts/YMCA/YWCA/Boys and Girls Clubs?

Or the unpaid debts to caterers or small food vendors?

the list goes on and on and on and on and on

But thanks from Iowa. I hope the National Cattle Congress (the county fairgrounds) or the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (on the UNI campus) gets their bills paid here in my area of Iowa. I hate to see our local vendors cheated by political campaigns.

:hi:

(Just think only 890,000 contributions like yours and her past debts can get paid - of course that doesn't help her in her current deficit spending, but I know you'll keep trying!)

The $8,733,609.11 in debt does not include the $5,000,000 Clinton loaned her campaign.

(and this report doesn't include the debt she's incurred through March )

91. Obama owes $625,000 in current debt
less than 10% of Clinton's debts (and has more than enough COH to pay those debts off) - but you can call that full of shit if you wish.

As for Clinton's $33 million COH you do realize that she can't touch the majority of that b/c it is earmarked for the General Election??

Here's just one link to that information: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/21/clintons-february-fec-filings/

<snip>

After spending about $31 million in her efforts to keep up with Senator Barack Obama, Mrs. Clinton finished February with more than $33 million in cash on hand, but $21.5 million of that is earmarked exclusively for the general election, leaving her with $11.7 million for the primary.

Mrs. Clinton, however, loaned her campaign $5 million earlier this year and she listed $8.7 million in debts to various vendors, making clear why she has not yet paid herself back from her loan.

By way of comparison, Senator Barack Obama, her Democratic opponent, brought in $55 million in February, a record-setting sum, and spent about $43 million, leaving him with $31.6 million in cash on hand available for the primary and $7.3 million set aside for the general. He also did a much better job paying his bills, listing just $625,000 in outstanding debts

<snip>

++++

Isn't READING fun??? :hi:

Now let's try math

She has $11,700,000.00 in COH - BUT
she has $ 8,700,000.00 in debt - equalling $3,000,000 for use in the primary - BUT WAIT
she has $ 5,000,000.00 loan owed to her - which means she is $2,000,000.00 in debt IF she actually chooses to pay her bills

113. A.) You neglected to mention the $33 million she has on hand to cover the $8 million in debt
B.)you neglected to mention Obama's own debt. C.)even after you account for the $21.5 million ear marked for the general election, she still has $11.7 million to cover the debts to others and to herself which means she is not anywhere near $8 million in debt and, which also means, you are full of fucking shit.

121. I'll be honest since you seem polite. I pretty much hate all politicians
I can't think of a single one (that's still living) that I really like in fact. I have come to the conclusion that, due to the inherantly flawed nature of our democracy, all elections will, forever more, be a choice between the lesser of two evils with the choice becoming less and less clear as time passes. That being said, it isn't that I really like Hillary more than Obama, it's that I dislike her less than I dislike him. I'll be even more honest with you, I'm not so sure that Barack's dovish stance is appropriate at this moment in American history. At the same time, McCain's hawkish stance may be a bit much. Hillary is right in the middle which is what I believe is most appropriate for America right now in general.

146. I agree with your lesser of two evils assessment, I feel that's my choice this time.

But I'm surprised that Clinton's tactics haven't turned off all of her supporters. Does that bother you at all? Because I've never trusted her, and probably sort of disliked her, but by this point, after her campaign, I loathe her. Especially since she's tearing down a candidate that is inspiring thousands of new, young voters to get involved, even though I think he's pretty much the same thing as her in a lot of ways as far as records and policy stances.

Either way, I'll vote for whoever the Dem candidate is, because they're both a lot better than McCain, and the Supreme Court composition is too important to jeopardize at this time.

130. I got one of those today too...
This is my fifth contribution to Senator Clinton...With more to come...I dearly love all three Clintons and we badly need Hillary to clean up the mess...Isn't it strange that every time Hillary outlines a plan to fix health care, the economy, etc.., Old Barry Hussein Obam repeats it on some news channel the next day and takes credit for it...I'm documenting his lies..Too many to count...I no longer care about the Dem party; I want Hillary in the White House, and if she is robbed of the nomination, I will have three choices...I could not vote for BHO if you held a gun to my head, and will have to choose between McCain, Nader or writing in Hillary's name on the ballot along with the reason why I've done that...Then when our once-great nation dies, I will surely know who to blame...I'm 82, and I never miss an election...The first time I was old enough to vote, I had the pleasure and privilege of voting for Harry S Truman...I've never seen a campaign in all these years that included a creature as bad, as cruel, as mean-spirited, as dishonest, as ignorant and just plain stupid as the Chicago prophet who is going to fix everything including the kitchen sink with hope and change...

141. It's your money..spend it any way you want to..
The thing that always gets me is this..

Millionaires run for office, and they have not-so-well-off send them money so they don't have to "waste" their own money..

at least guys like Bloomberg & Romney put up their own money:)

142. Whenever a HRC supporter gets snarky, rather than stew
I send Obama more $$.

Works well for me.

The only problem is that I'm getting close to the individual limit - well above a grand.

153. Not quite. more like, she's in this race because people are still giving her money
However, the questions you should be asking are, why are people still giving her money and what are the possible implicaions of that?

154. Why do people give money to Joel Osteen?
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 07:31 PM by theredpen
Because they're complete imbeciles.

There's no reason to dig deep into the question of why certain celebrities can get Americans to give them money.

Edit: That said, the only red flag is when people won't give you money.

2nd Edit: Even better example: people are still giving Ron Paul money.

The OP announced his participation in Democracy and tempted folks to attack him. And they did in droves, in one thread I was able to clean my computer screen of so much trash. Great!
