McCain Ad With Actor Powers Boothe (The VP from "24")!
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 07:28 PM by Bill Bored
Someone please tell the folks at Air America (David Bender in particular) that Powers Boothe is NOT just being used to do McCain ads about "The American President" because he played Jim Jones, but rather because he played the hawkish Caucasian VP who conspired to take over for Wayne Palmer, the less-hawkish African-American President and brother of slain ex-President, David Palmer, in the pro-torture Fox TV show "24."

Fans of the show will recall that Boothe's character was ready to nuke a middle eastern county (because Palmer wouldn't do it) in the last season while Palmer was trying to negotiate with an ex-terrorist.

Nuf said?

1. But Boothe DID play Jim Jones, and the McCain camp should have taken that into account.

On the other hand, expecting people to ignore that on the grounds of political expediency is so predictably--Republican!

2. Their base are likely to be "24" fans, and it's much more recent.
Besides, a lot of this stuff is probably subliminal, and focus-group tested.

I wonder if he'll be on the next season with Janeane Garofalo?

4. I loved Boothe as Cy Toliver on Deadwood.
Can't say I care much for his politics though.

8. Cy Tolliver And The Two Teenage Thieves
Oh man - this guy brought to life one of the most horrific and nightmarish scenes I've ever laid eyes on in Deadwood. Watching him taunt then kill Veronica Mars (while her head was caved in) and then feeding them to pigs was pretty disturbing.

13. He really brings it home ...

Wow they really stacked evil up on that show. First we thought that Swearingen was a bad guy. Than they brought in Cy Tolliver and ... wow. And then ... all the really sick mofos working for Hearst. Those guys were so nasty you even got to rooting for Tolliver.

The moral of the show ... there is always someone MORE EVIL!!!
