Looks like most Edwards DUers are leaning towards Obama |
|
In the numerous posts I've browsed since February, I've yet to see any posters with Edwards avatars supporting or defending Hillary. If this reflects even closely of the general population out there, just another reason to ask wth is Hillary still doing running?

Proven with all that experience she had and obviously wasted for all her good deededness, and watched Bill pound the poor down even more by Welfare Reform.

2. Edwards was in my final two--when he left, I threw my support firmly behind Clinton. |

15. Me too - I was for Edwards and now for Clinton. I'll be for Obama when/if it becomes necessary. |

|
...but I will defend Hillary supporters against the rude insults they've been receiving here on DU. I don't support Obama. I don't want to be mistaken for one of his supporters, either.

12. Exactly my position. I have no candidate, and pretty much no party at this point. |
|
I'll defend Clinton and her supporters against the constant nonsense they get, but I'll never support Obama for the same reason I won't support Clinton: they have the same damn policies many of which I don't agree with.
Gravel left the Democratic party and has joined the Libertarian party with the goal of moving it to the left. I'll probably vote for him. McKinney also left the party and may be the Green nominee, I like her too. If the Dem nominee picks Edwards as VP and he accepts, I could be drawn back. If it's a unity ticket between Clinton and Obama, I'd support it because it would bring the party back together and I think they could actually landslide McCain. Other than that, I don't have a candidate and I feel that this party doesn't represent anything I value anymore.

I'm on no one's side except the side of those in favor of decency, civility, reason, and honor. Kind of funny that because of that I'm accused of favoring Hillary for pounding on posts made by Obama people that are pretty rancid, considering there are a LOT more of those compared to ones put out by the Hillary people. Hard to be balanced in that sense when the scales lean so far to one side.

I refuse to join in on a blanket party, period. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5301901&mesg_id=5301901">Now Obama supporters express open hatred of Hillary supporters here on DU, as if it is a game The Democratic party has degenerated into a sewer Edwards supporters didn't feel the need to act like this, they talked about POLICY.

13. Exactly. I wish he wasn't forced out for the benefit of this spectacle. |
|
Of course the Obama supporters were demanding that he stop his campaign then too. I'm convinced that they are bullies who have no interest in democracy--a good number of them anyway. They've consistently demanded that everyone else suspend their campaigns for the benefit of their candidate. They've become the Republican-style thugs of our party.

Held on for a bit, then moved toward Obama after listening to what both candidates had to say. Didn't get much help, issue wise, from the debates, but thanks to C-Span was able to get unfiltered stump speeches. Child of the 50s/60s, holding out hope that our country has grown up enough to handle what will surely be a vicious GE. The RW/Corporatists will not go quietly.

18. Well, I donated to Edwards twice |
|
I do notice that the people who supported Edwards, Biden, Dodd, Kucinich, etc. seem to be the least likely to engage in the politics of personal destruction against the remaining two candidates.
Personally I'm quite disappointed by the lack of restraint that has been displayed on these boards in the last few months. And inexperience or a lack of intelligence can't be used as an excuse, they don't apply to too many of the worst offenders.
The means shape the ends. I see two factions on these boards who seem to have lost the foresight to imagine what victory is going to be like once we are down to the one candidate that we must support. It goes without saying that what is expressed on these boards doesn't echo that largely into the larger world that actually does have an impact on winning the general election but never the less The DU has become a diminished resource, in my eyes at least, in regards the greater fight that will lead up to election day in November.
Internet forums are, to a degree, supposed to be self moderating so we all bear some responsibility for this.
Ok, I now head back to my self imposed exile in the far friendlier forums on these boards. :)

Granted, he isn't perfect, but the anti-free-trade and anti-job offshoring populist bent in me cannot EVER move towards a Hillary candidacy based on her past statements and actions in this matter. I believe he's the better person for the position, I like what he's done with civil rights/voter registration and job creation in his state, and I think he has the better plans as far as education, the economy, ending Bewsh's horrible war and energy renewal.

You can't judge the level of support for a candidate around here by the avatars displayed by their supporters.
