ever since they sold out to Budweiser... they are now brewed in New Jersey despite the boycott that the greater Latrobe residents waged against it.

They may have the same recipe, but sometimes minor changes in production can make a big differnce.

That sucks! I love Rolling Rock and one of the reasons I still enjoy it is because I like to think I'm helping the small brewers and folks in Latrobe!

41. Yeah, I was really bummed about it, too.

I loved Rolling Rock and yeah, a lot of it was because it was a small brewer that I respected. I still drink it sometimes, but I really do think the taste is different, but that might just be my mind playing tricks on me because I'm so pissed at Budweiser. They say that the recipe is the same.

I guess it was sold to City Brewing, an outfit from Wisconsin. They were going to brew other brands there I guess, but I don't know which brands they are.

Someone in the Obama campaign msut have given him a heads up--or maybe he just likes the stuff. If he does, It indicates excellent judgment, Yuengling's very good (I love the "Lord Chesterfield Ale") and moderately priced.

By the way, if you ever get to Pottsville take the brewery tour. It's a cool old place and in the end (at least when I did it around ten years ago) they give you actual pints (not specimen cups) of their brew.

In May, 2006, Anheuser-Busch purchased the Rolling Rock and Rock Green Light brands from InBev and began brewing Rolling Rock at its Newark facility in mid July, 2006. The final batch of Rolling Rock was shipped from Latrobe on July 31, 2006. Well, not really with him, but with people like him -- and they suck.

They are egotistical and arrogant. If you don't feed their ego, they become abusive. and they become more so, once they start getting drunk. Then, one of two things happen:

1. They find some way to disappear and stick you with the bill.

Ironic, isn't it. Actually, Milwaukee's traditional breweries are mostly gone now. Miller is still here, and Sprecher (they make root beer and regular beers). And a bunch of other micro-breweries. That's the way it goes I guess.

We were up there for Irish Fest last year. If you ever want to go on a really fun brewery tour, Lakefront Brewery was a blast. I'd even go even if I didn't like beer because it was so fun. But if you do like beer, you'll be in heaven. Free refills - as many as you want. :D Go on Friday night and stay for the fish fry and polka band. :beer:

BTW, the Yuengling brewery not far from Philly, is supposedly the oldest continuously operating brewery in the country. They serve it alot over here in Philly. Yuengling Black and Tan is pretty good.

As a young reporter on a small paper many many years ago, I was sent to a country club to cover a $100 a plate dinner (a lot of money back then) by my GOP publisher who had bought the ticket. At the cocktail party prior to the meal (not worth $100 even in today's Bushian dollars), I went to bar, waited while all the captains of industry ordered their martinis and whatever, and ordered a beer.

People looked at me like I had just screamed an obscenity. The bartender didn't have any and had to send someone to get some. The guy came back five minutes later with one bottle. I got the message. I had clearly labeled myself as "not one of them."

Yeungling employs an entire town called Pottsville. They also have a brewery in Florida. Family owned company since the 1800s and they do a great tour if your ever up there. Yeungling is PA

I don't know how it is in Latrobe, but if you go to a bar in the Philadelphia area and ask for a "lager", you'll be served Yuengling. This is also true in State College (home to Penn State).

I live in NM so I have never seen that beer. It wasn't until I went for a job interview on the east coast when I had a Yuengling at the hotel I was staying at. It was really good and I hope I can find a place locally that sells it.
