Gallup: Second straight 'statistically significant' lead for Obama
A quick update for poll junkies:

"For the second consecutive http://www.gallup.com/poll/105832/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Still-Top-50-43.aspx">Gallup Poll Daily tracking report, Barack Obama holds a statistically significant lead over Hillary Clinton in national Democratic preferences for the nomination, 50% to 43%."

Yesterday, Obama had an 8 percentage point advantage.

The Gallup folks say their latest survey was of "1,220 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters" and has a margin of error on each result of +/- 3 percentage points.

There was no change in Gallup's results for hypothetical general election match-ups: Republican Sen. John McCain leads Obama 46%-44% and leads Clinton 48%-44%.

Our usual reminder: Polls are just snapshots of current public opinion, not forecasts of what will happen on any Election Day (at least not this far out from when votes will be cast).

5. No, one point is not statistically significant.

2. A warning
That his lead didn't increase a lot today tells me that this large lead is the result of a one day sample.

I expect it to disappear in 2 days.

3. Note that the M v O and M v C poll has a +/- of 2; so the M v O is a statistical dead heat.
