What can the Obama kids do for America?
They're only 9 and 6, but I know they are already smarter and more mature than the Bush twins will ever be! :patriot: :patriot:

4. They can volunteer their time helping needy kids......
visiting them in the hospital. Start a charity drive of sorts, to provide for youngsters in other countries who are not as fortunate as we are.

There are an endless possibilities....and knowing Barack and Michelle, and how they feel about public service with that great imagination of theirs, I'm sure that those two youngsters will be amazing!

6. They will be smart, educated liberal Americans!
I have a 9 and 6 years old granddaughters and they are learning the ways of their parents and grandparents, liberal progressives all! Plus they are feminists!

If nothing else, I want my granddaughters, just like the Obama girls, to be enlightened young people who will want to give back to their community and nation. Unlike the Bush girls, they will want to help the environment, civil rights, civil liberties, and help all the social problems that are part of our lives now.

I am hopeful for the future when I look upon them!

8. I question using them so much in this campaign

Does having two adorable kids make you more likely to get elected or something?

11. Actually, I haven't seen them used at all......
There are not a lot of photos of them, and I have not seen them on the campaign trail, in ads, or anywhere much. So why don't you cite examples of them being "used".

I'll take my answer on the air.

14. They have rarely used them - they've been their at some of the victory celebrations,
but I assume they would be disappointed if they weren't. Other than that they are in pictures with their parents. They are actually LESS involved than the absolutely adorable Edwards kids were in 2004 - when they traveled with their parents. I think both the Edwards and the Obamas carefully thought out what would be best for their kids. Excluding them from what likely may be some of the most exciting events of their lives would be silly.

9. As a teacher
and observer of fourth graders for many years, I think watching the Obama girls grow up in the White House will do wonders for the self esteem of African American children-especially the girls.

15. I think they can be wonderful role models for all children

It would be lovely to have little children in the WH again.

I loved seeing Caroline and John John.

Loved seeing Chelsea and the Johnson sisters....

Then came the Bush twins ~

10. They can
Go to school and become amazing adults. They have great genes and an amazing Mother and Father. I'm sure they are going to do something for this country at some point.

I have a saying about the Children of Presidential candidates.. I have no problem with them or with them campaigning for their parents regardless of what party their parents are.....I do have a problem when they run for President themselves than invade countries.

13. They're on the front page of the obama website
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 07:49 PM by galaxy21
which I find unneccessary.

Obviously Obama wants to paint himself as a devoted family man, and I have no doubt he is, but it seems like he should be selling himself, rather than his family.

But I think it's unfair for people to say Chelsea's being exploited, and just ignore the fact that Obama uses his kids a lot too.

The kids on the front page of the website...It's not a huge deal to me but I just don't see why he has to do that. Unless he is trying to say 'hey, I'm a devoted family man like you! You can trust me!'

Again, I don't doubt he is a loving father/husband in real life ..etc. But, there is something less than genuine about trying to manufacture such an image for himself.

Honeslty, I just think politicians kids should be left out of this stuff.

The kneejerk 'OMG! You HATE OBAMA' reaction from certain people on here at even the smallest criticism of Barack, is pretty pathetic, I have to say.

23. Well maybe a little explanation about why
having his kids on the web page is so bad wouldn't of got you such a knee jerk response. The children are going to be a part of this process like it or not. If he does win the white house we will probably see quite a bit of them. So is suppose to lock the children up and pretend he doesn't have a family? Seeing them on the web page is a reminder of what he is sacrificing to run for office. I have to say the way people just make statements on this board without clarifying themselves is just as pathetic as people jumping to conclusions. :eyes:

21. It will be over soon
We are going to have to hold the ones who come over back from being despicable to McCain. I already saw some stupid thing questioning his service in Vietnam. Some just don't get it.
