With PA. coming up, quick look back at the 2004 GE there
Kerry had little over 2,900,000 votes in the GE...It will be interesting to see the turnout for the primary April 22nd....I mean, if 3,000,000+ turn out, you have to figure even more will turn out in November....

Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh & Philadelphia with Tennessee in the middle...

1. Yeah iVE THOUGHT THAT AS WELL
I lived in Pa for four years (allentown) and Obama wont win the Middle of the state although Incredibly would stand a better shot than Hillary who the mid staters just cant stand (at least in bigger numbers than OBAMA can get new voters). Its a quandry. Obama can run up a big lead in the cities and count on the new voters (hope mongering is good for something). Hillary will just be Hillary, low ceiling and she will have to spend too much time there.

2. I've been to Tennessee. Pennsylvania is not Tennessee, TYVM.
Our mid-section is farmland; our NE is erstwhile coal; our E&W are erstwhile steel.

And we don't play the banjo.

4. Yes, I knew what you meant. Every state has its Republican enclaves.

Even MASSACHUSETTS voted in Romney.
But when you tell a born-and-bred Yankee that their state resembles anything south of the Mason-Dixon Line, well, then.

5. Yes, and there are very few Democrats in the middle ("T") of PA, so

the closed primary will not be the same dynamic as a GE, where the "T" usually brings in a lot of R votes.

(edited to change "republicans" to Democrats)

8. Oops, yes; with few Democrats, the "T" won't be a big issue.
