The Texas outcome is proof that republicans were up to dirty tricks
It was easy for them to take the marching orders from Limbaugh and vote for HRC, thus heavily influencing the popular vote. However, when it came time to show up at a caucus, which takes considerable more planning and effort, they weren't that motivated or didn't think it necessary.

These republican crossovers also faced the possibly of being seen by people in their precinct that knew their real political affiliation. In this regard the caucus was a good mechanism for keeping these spoilers away and putting the power in the hands of the people that are the true party activists.

At the end of the day, Obama wins in Texas but he really should have won by a much larger margin.

4. That certainly kept fairly equal proportions of HRC and Obama
supporters away. However, I will agree that the caucuses do favor Obama because he has more support from the higher educated. He plays on that strength. You can't blame him, he has run a brilliant campaign and doesn't make the primary rules.

3. Didn't you hear?
Supposedly Rush has spies that will be chosen as delegates. He's going to communicate with them via secret decoder rings and throw the whole convention into chaos. :eyes:

6. Actually no - my post mentioned the convention, not the primary
I was just making fun of Rush. I think he did influence the primary. But I also think he's ridiculously funny with his cloak and dagger routine as far as sneaking Rush operatives into the convention in Denver.

Sorry - I thought making fun of Rush was still something that both Clinton and Obama fans could agree on. :eyes:

9. No, my apologies. I thought you were saying that the Rush strategy
didn't occur.

10. No problem. :)
I'm sure it did occur. Why would so many people vote for Clinton, yet these same people did have a very high opinion of her when they were polled? I have no issue with crossover voting. In the 2002 Tennessee gubernatorial election, I voted in the republican primary. Van Hilleary was running and he is a right wing, GOP asshat. Democrats don't always do well in our state so I voted for the moderate republican, Jim Henry. He was the lesser of two evils and I was worried Bredesen wouldn't win. Luckily, he did.

I think that's a valid reason to in another party's primary. But doing it to just to mess with the other party? Not very cool.

11. I should probably do the same where I live. It is one of the reddest
counties in Texas. However, I don't think we even get moderates to run here.

7. Have All The Tallies Been Counted?
Last time I looked they only had 50+% of the vote counted.
