After reading through all of the Hillary debt |
|
IE: Bills that have not been paid.
Does anyone seem astonished at how much it costs to run for POTUS?
I mean, jeez... all this money could be used to for so many more things.
I just think it's sad that you have to amass so much just to campaign.

I am just shaking my head in disbelief.
JUst goes to show you that common folk cannot run for the highest office in the land.
Sad.

handled it better. Her competition has.

Which is why so many GOOD candidates have dropped out |

owing far less debt that Clinton.

4. My suggestion is that every candidate spends the same limited amount |
|
buys one newspaper ad, buys one tv ad, and has one debate. Travels to each state once.
its like drug dealers/lobbyists. If you decrease the demand for drugs/money, then the dealers/lobbyists dry up.
but I dream, I dream.

5. Travels to each state once? How is that fair to voters? |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-30-08 07:19 PM by Kittycat
Particularly in large states.
ETA: I have zero problems with them spending as much time in each and every state as possible.

11. Just saying that the spending is out of control |
|
and that spending requires monies that are out of control.
and those out of control monies create CONTROL of the candidates by special interest.
Why is only traveling once, and touring the state, not fair? In fact, what happens now, is some states like Ohio will recieve dozens of visits by candidates at the expense of other states that get none.

14. Well it's a good thing that Obama is following Dean's plan then. |
|
Unlike HRC, who's only been forced in to it.
Listen, I agree - the amount of money is obscene. However, if it's coming from me, my neighbors, grassroots, etc - I have less of an issue with it. I'm not close to maxing out yet - nor are MANY of the well over $1M Obama supporters. For once, we're buying our own damn election - and taking it out of the hands of those that dare write threatening letters to the DNC/Pelosi... Those that THINK they are the puppetmasters. It's time that we took back our government. Sure we can't do it alone, but together we can.

12. I think every candidate should be given free air time |
|
The airwaves belong to the people, after all. Each would have the same amount of time, and negative ads would be prohibited.

8. It is tragic and sad.. |
|
With so many homeless, sick and poor Americans you would think that all of this money could have been used to help the common good.
Tragic indeed.

13. We Need A Level Playing Field |
|
The current campaign finance laws just continue to encourage abuse, and shady associations that may or may not be entirely repudiated. And it's certainly tilted in favor of inequities, like the campaign with the better fundraisers (rather than the better candidate) becoming the successful campaign.
