Draft GORE Thread
Let everyone know that you don't agree with the 2 left in the "running" and that you want Al GORE to be leading the "NEW DEMOCRAT's"

1. No way - I like Al, but that move would set the party back 20 years

2. Sorry, but no.
With all due respect to President Gore, this race is about two candidates, one of whom is apparently winning over the other.

I don't want Mr. Gore stepping in to tell the voters, as though we were children, that he will "settle the argument".

And quite frankly, Mr. Gore is not the kind of person who would deign to do so in any event.

35. Nance - the 2 remaining candidates are basically tied. Neither can win without SD's.
Gore would not be "stepping in to tell the voters, as though we were children, that he will "settle the argument"", as you so disengenuously phrased it. Gore would be the agreed upon compromise that would break the deadlock, correct our national karma, and begin to fix this fucked-up country.

He's a visionary and a problem solver and we need him.

36. The candidates are not 'basically tied' ...
... Obama is ahead by every measure.

I believe that Obama is a visionary and a problem-solver. That's why I've supported him all along. And apparently, that is an opinion shared by many.

42. Obama's ahead by a little bit with 10 states remaining. It is virtually tied.
As far as the sentiments of Democrats - Hillary probably leads resoundlingly among them.

Let's have the remaining contests. Let's decide Michigan and Florida. And then, let's see.

40. I agree - I also don't think he is the kind of man
who would tell two fellow Democrats, "yes, you have worked yourself to the point of exhaustion for a year, raised millions, criss-crossed states, missed seeing your children and your spouse for months on end, slept on planes, been crucified and resurrected only to be crucified again, but I will be stepping in and taking over now - you go home - but leave your bank account # at the door on your way out."

He is way better than that!

4. I dub this the JR strategy...
Where the Democratic party wakes up from a nightmare to find Gore in the bathroom, using the shower.

It turns out that the last 6 months were all just a dream...

As much as I love Al Gore, that move would piss off most of Clinton and Obama supporters.

It's Obama or Clinton...that is it, there are no other choices.

Talk about destroying a party, and it wouldn't be because Al Gore isn't loved.

14. thinking Gore can ride in and fix the mess is magical thinking. Gore is smarter than that
Too bad you can't get over this habit of insisting some super hero will save the day.

It's gonna take all of us and it's gonna take more time than we probably have. Gore is smart enough to know you and others would turn on him once you found out he was human and one human can't save your ass.

of winning. Gore hasn't run so much as a sprint around Tennessee. Why should he be the president? This race is not close. Obama has out campaigned her.

18. Nope. But...
Having Al step to the front to "save" the nomination would be more than a slap in the face to women and AAs, it would be a blow to the head and would send the party reeling.

I was devastated when Al chose not to run this year (I wrote to him twice begging him to run). There is no way I could see him let Obama and Clinton take all the abuse this campaign has dealt them and then waltz in, fresh as a daisy, to usurp the lead. I just don't see him doing that.

HOWEVER, I know Al is a superb public servant. Only HE knows if he could accomplish more inside D.C. or outside D.C. If he believed he could do more from inside, then he could be Obama's veep. Obama could make sure that the V.P. position would be pretty darn important.

I know, most don't think he'd take second place again, but then I don't think Al's personal ego is more important to him than this country or this earth. If he thought he could get more done inside Washington than outside, maybe he'd do it.

24. Another NO!
I bet you thought people would fall all over themselves to agree. Gore is not a candidate and I don't know why that is so difficult to understand or to believe him when he says he is not a candidate. We have two candidates who have worked hard for the nomination as well as the others who have dropped out. I cast my vote for one of them and one of them deserves the nomination, particularly my candidate.

29. Al Gore put an end to this himself. You would be smart
to do so as well. Unless you want to hurt Gore for the future. Which is why Gore is trying to put this to an end himself.

Trust me on this one. I don't think Al Gore wants to look like he is alienating Obama supporters. Which is how Obama supporters are seeing this and which is what you are doing to Gore.
