Poll question: When it is over, and Barack Obama is the nominee...
Do you think that Hillary Clinton will throw her support toward him and help him campaign to beat McCain in the GE?

1. Need catagory: "Frankly, at this point I honestly don't know."
If you add it, I'll have a place to vote in your poll.

5. She will be his VP.
If he gets the nomination that is.

And Bill will be their pit bull against the RW hate machine.

6. Evidence of the hate, the other poll like this had "fuck your poll" winning.
This one, however, has "Yes Hillary is evil" winning.

Pretty distinct.

19. you noticed that too...
really this was more of an experiment to see what type of responses i would get from the exact same question regarding two candidates that are still in the race-- even if one has basically no good route to the win. kinda interesting.

7. I think she will.
She pretty much has to, doesn't she? How classless and petty would it be for her to do otherwise?

But considering the way she threw Kerry under the bus for the botched joke in 2004 this is a fair question.

8. It will be perfunctory support
Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 05:29 AM by Azathoth
She will officially endorse him and stump for him in front of the cameras at one or two high profile campaign rallies...just enough so she can claim that she "supported" the party candidate. Then she'll sit back and wait for 2012, hoping that her Tonya Harding strategy did enough damage to cripple him in the general.

14. I think they both will support the other. It's the supporters of both that have a problem.
However, I think the supporters of both will come together no matter who the eventual nominee is.

15. I chose "No", but that's not subtle enough.
Hillary will give lip-service support to Obama
("Of course I back the Democratic nominee!") but
she and Bill will do nothing to actually move
voters.

They already tipped their hand in this regard back
in the 2006 Senatorial Race when Joe Lieberman,
their good buddy, was defeated in the Democratic
Primary by Ned Lamont. The Clintons, even though
they were next-state neighbors, then sat out the
General Election without ever supporting Lamont.

17. I hope she will, for the Spirit of Unity and Togetherness...
... but my intuition and some other data lead me to believe that she won't.

If she could be a graceful loser, she would have done so already - but she has become addicted to this campaign... with each election she says "just one more! then I'll quit!". Unfortunately, there isn't an election form of Methadone, so we can't wean her off her addictive substance - the primaries.

She SHOULD throw her support to him and do all she can to help him win in November - but I don't think that is what she REALLY WANTS. I think she is more then prepared to have a "if I can't win the Nomination, I will destory the person who does!" sort of response.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she even campaigns for McCain, just so she can "have a shot at 2012" or whatever it is that she has in her passive-agressive, BPD, delusional mind right now.

22. Well I.D. did we learn anything from the two polls?
A few votes separate them as far as total amounts but the predictions by the voters over which supporters will vote for the opposition is intriguing. It appears that higher % of the DUers, according to the two polls, feel that Obama supporters will turn out for Clinton as opposed to Clinton supporters turning out for Obama. Hmmm. well the polls are obviously skewed because Obama supporters in the DU hold a sizable majority over Clinton supporters...I don't know that stat but I would guess conservatively that we Obama supporters enjoy a 3 to 1 advantage.

What do I take from your two polls? That for some reason, Obama supporters have less faith in Clinton supporters than Clinton supporters have in Obama supporters. Trust issues? Anger issues? Looks to me like the majority of DUers feel that Obama supporters are reliable and trustworthy. I like being thought of that way. I am saddened that we supporters of Obama feel less trust in them than they do in us. Perhaps it is an anger issue and nothing more. That said, I trust Senator Clinton's DU supporters MORE than I trust Senator Clinton. I'll keep feeling that way until Senator Obama gives me as many reasons to mistrust him as Senator Clinton has.

I believe that we individual DUers are not immune to propaganda or spin but as a collective we are highly resistant. I know Senator Clinton's DU supporters here would disagree with that statement...but that disagreement disregards the collectives intellect. There are way too many smart folks here with access to way too much data collectively to be completely bamboozled by smoke and mirrors. We have had way too many years of the bfee to practice on! I am pleased that DU agrees with Anmerica's gut instincts. YES WE CAN

28. DAMN!!
that was a very impressive analysis. i wish more people paid attention to it like you did, i truly thought that i was crazy for even caring.

the one other thing i found interesting was which of the two polls got flamed more and which had more "fuck your poll" votes.

thanks again for the analysis-- i think it deserves it own thread. but sadly it would probably sink just like my polls did.

29. Oh Hell! I'm setting myself up for a big fall...
This is absolutely unrelated to your thread: Everytime I see myself as figuring stuff out here in the DU, I get all stupid and try to post stuff beyond my limited abilities. Then I get smacked down by my fellow DUers and feel silly for months and months. I almost did not post my thoughts regarding your poll for fear of this...I am doing what I feel is pretty well in other topics at this time too...a rarity for me. The fact that you did not pee on my parade leads me to believe that a sizeable calamity is ahead for me elsewhere. I HATE IT when that happens!

Back to your polls and something about me: Thank you for the kind words. I suck at being non-partisan lately although this was not always the case. I know that my analysis was filtered through my HOPE for Senator Obama. Frankly, I DO feel in my gut that this man is the last best hope for our ailing planet. To me, he may be the miracle that the world has been praying for. I have my reasons for this, blind faith is not among those reasons.

That combines with what I learn here from our fellow DUers regarding Senator Clinton. To me she represents the old guard, politics as usual and within the last two months she has become 'bush lite' for me. When I saw these two polls of yours, I tried to cast my vote without considering my beliefs but I know that was impossible. That was why I asked for another option, because the option "Fuck your poll..." (or whatever it was), was not working for me and I suspect was not working for others.

I felt that your polls held merit none-the-less, so I kept them bookmarked and came back to look again after they 'soaked' for a while. On that I have not changed, those polls did indeed hold merit so credit where credit is due: :toast: to you for the two polls. I have learned something from them...perhaps others have as well. As to the flames...well folks are a bit sensitive right now, as you may well have noticed.

30. Well if the earth doesn't open up and Hell doesn't swallow her back up
then its possible she could. I get the feeling just from seeing her through this primary that she would be very bitter. I'm worried her and bill will start pointing their guns at the entire party as a whole and end up in the Lieberman camp of you took away what is rightfully mine so fuck you all. This may seem like another snark but i'm seriously worried about Hillary herself, not her supporters, not supporting the party.
