We are buying "Fools Gold" for thinking McCain will be the nominee. |
|
Cheney will never let it happen unless he is either on the ticket or has a deal to setup the same VP control of the government as now. McCain is showing signs of mental stress and confusion.
IMO, he will step aside and Cheney will bring in a ringer. Someone already vetted, someone to shock the media into confusion and someone to keep the sheeple inline. Someone like CJ John Roberts.
Also neither of our candidates seem to on the lookout for this sucker punch, and are making plans as if McCain was a done deal.

McCain is not what he used to be. It's clear the man is in decline. His running mate will be absolutely critical for the Republicans. It will be someone who will be able to "step in and take over" and any time. Like ... after the first debate.

Dick Cheney is going home to Wyoming. He is not going to have any say. We have far greater problems than worrying about Darth Vader. We need to pick a candidate that can win an election that should have been in the bag already.
I hope for a convention that nominates neither of the flawed and unelectable candidates that managed to get this far.

22. A convention like that would hand the WH to the Reps on a silver platter. |
|
The sooner everyone realizes that the choice of nominee is down to 2 candidates the better. No third candidate is riding to the 'rescue' at the convention.

which is where he really lived before 2000. He had to get that place in Wyoming to avoid a little Constitutional detail that prohibits the prez and the veep coming from the same state.

18. you're kinda right ... |
|
but it's probably much more simple ...
For the republicans, 2008 is for COMPLETE control of the Supreme Court for at least a generation or two.
Think of the power they will have ... overturn Roe, mandatory prayers in school, legal prosecution and persecution of glbt's, ability to overturn any democratic senate-house bill that does not follow the republican agenda et al.
IOW -- the republicans would be able to rule the country directly through SCOTUS with no regard for the democratic majority in either or both chambers.
AND -- they know it.
Your surest bet -- the republicans will be voting in droves in Nov regardless of their nomination.
McCain, Cheney, Roberts or Daffy Duck ... doesn't matter.
This is precisely why the dems will probably face a landslide defeat in Nov. I'm not trying to be a defeatist ... just trying to adding a bit of reality.

The only way at this time that McCain would step down would be if he literally dropped dead.
The other option would be to put who they really wanted as his VP. Jeb Bush at this time would never be on the ticket because the name Bush is just way too toxic. However I do believe that McCain will be picking Colin Powell. He is the only one that could possibly offset the historic run of Barack Obama.
But there in lies a problem Colin (even though he was instrumental in the war) was not really part of that group to which he was the last one told.
