Offensive statements.
Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 03:05 PM by redqueen
Which are you more offended by? Obama's characterization of a forced pregnancy as a punishment... or Hillary's characterization of millions of unnecessary deaths, a theocracy taking the place of a secular society, rampant preventable disease, etc. as freedom.

People are losing their everlovin' minds.

(edited to change "an" to "of", and to change "unwanted" to "forced", as that was what Obama was referring to.)

The only people "offended" by Obama's remarks are rabid, intellectually dishonest Clinton supporters (and right wing fundies), and I'm guessing those people aren't going to be disagreeing with Clinton on Iraq.

27. No he relied on his kinfolk for loyalty and
used the ethnic divisions within Iraq to rule. The later phase of his regime was forced to adopt a less secular posture due to the growing influence of both sunni and shia fundamentalism across the region, but Iraq remained a relatively secular state until the end. In particular, women had more rights in Iraq than in practically any other muslim nation in the region. Of course we put an end to all of that and Iraq (or what is left of it) is currently ruled by a shiite religious political party. Once we bug out, and we will bug out, what forms after our departure is very likely to be theocratic.

Iraq was not a theocracy and in fact was a secular military dictatorship. 'sectarian bigotry' does not refute the fact that Iraq was a secular military dictatorship.

Many republicans are in sheep's clothing trying to create chaos. Limpnuts is spurring some of them on. Others are just trying to keep the primary going so McCain gets a free ride and we tear ourselves apart. Just put them on ignore. It only takes about 15 to 20 people on ignore and DU becomes a nice place again.

33. No, FORCED is the word we're looking for
Because that's what he was talking about. He would hate for his daughters to make a mistake and be punished with a pregnancy - FORCED to carry a child. I don't think most parents ever feel their children are "punishments", even if they weren't planned. But I don't know how women would feel about children they were FORCED to carry.

the mistake of unprotected teen sex by being forced to bear an unwanted child, or by contracting a disease. It's pretty clear what he meant, he was speaking of his own daughters, and only idiots or the intellectually dishonest would try to twist this into an "Obama thinks babies are punishments" meme.
