Are the Clintons caught up in their Last Hurrah? The scenarios |
|
in which Hillary takes the nomination are becoming ever more Byzantine, and more and more involve blowing off the will of the voters in such a way as to devastate the party for years by alienating black voters and anyone under 30. I think the Clintons have always enjoyed campaigning more than governing, and they are used to campaigning against the odds. The narrative has always been that somehow evil forces are against them and that they will somehow win in the last reel. Once Obama wins the nomination, what is left for either Clinton?

1. I think they really believe their own press releases. |

I don't know, I think she'll be extremely angry and claim, or let her surrogates claim, that Obama "stole" the nomination from her. I already had to explain to a Hillary supporter in the Texas thread that having more of your guy's delegates show up at the caucus is not "stealing the delegates." Oy.

of there good will with the running of this campaign. Don't believe that they have much of a future left in politics after all is said and done. I would be surprised if Hillary could even win her Senate seat again.

3. HRC's running again for the Senate will be a bitter pill for her. Why would she really want to, |
|
when the only point of BEING NY Senator was to then become President?

Senator is not enough? John Quincy Adams was honored to return to the House of Representatives and ended his career fighting slavery. Ted Kennedy accepted that he would never be elected President and built an honorable career in the Senate.

5. They have turned the Clinton name to Shit among some of their strongest supporters. |
|
Politically, they are finished. People can't wait to show them the proverbial door, nail the coffin lid shut, etc.
They are turning this primary season into a duel to the death cagematch because it's all they've got left.
