Fundraising poor: Clinton to keep March numbers secret
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 03:18 PM by Changenow
According to MSNBC the Clinton campaign's March fundraising was so bad that they have decided not to release the total it publicly.

The story went on to say they have enough money for some media buys and to fly Clinton around, but vendors from other states are warning their counterparts in Pennsylvania and elsewhere not to offer credit to Clinton.

It can't be THAT bad, can it? She got $5M early in the month, and nearly $3M at the end... That's $8M...

maybe she was referring just to the health insurance bills - as this has been getting some airtime lately - but what about those Iowa vendors and others from back then?

"So you are saying that when the FEC website is updated in a few weeks that Sen Clinton's debt will be minimal? No school districts/grocery stores/event planners/late health insurance monthly premiums, etc..."

Get her response on TAPE so if the frigging list shows otherwise, she can come back on their show and start the excuses, er, explanations.

by April 15th or a few days before PA Primary, and she is due to keep her promise. She has to either *suspend* her campaign before that or release it and face the music. I am now 96% sure she is going to suspend her campaign before PA primaries.

... and you know that. :-)

I swear, those tax returns aren't coming. They're not coming "soon, very soon" as she said days ago. They're not coming a few days before the PA Primary. They're not coming a week after Indiana.

They're not coming at all, and the Wolfson/Penn crowd will just spin like tops whenever they're asked about the returns. They'll say, "Well OBAMA hasn't released his kindergarten records yet," or something to that laughable effect. No, seriously.

55. Yeah, I can't think how that would be an advantage.
It wouldn't work. It scares people. Especially the big donors. The regular folk might be motivated to cough up a bit more if they think things are bad, but that wouldn't be enough to overcome the hole they're in, so there'd be no advantage to playing broke.

Waiting On March Money
01 Apr 2008 12:54 pm

Today, we won't find out how much Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. John McCain, or Sen. Hillary Clinton raised in March.

The three campaigns will not be releasing their numbers today.

The buzz has Obama raising around $40M -- wholly unsubstantiated. The Obama team will not give me a ballpark figure. Obama has four fundraisers in Northern California on Sunday; two of them were sold out weeks in advance.

And rumors of the demise of the Clinton fundraising machine appear to be false: she's going to pull in at least $20M, according to folks with some sense of the numbers. (The Clinton campaign has no official comment either.)

McCain's March total will exceed the $12.5M he raised in February, according to Republicans with knowledge of his finances.

29. The problem is 20 Mil won't do her any good..
When you are 3 Million in the red at the beginning of March, you are actually getting even more in the red as March progresses. So most of the 20 Mil has already been spent.

She needs to take in at least 35- 45 Mil to be viable again.

I think it's pretty obvious she raised $20 million in March for two reasons

1. Bill Clinton asked people to donate before the end of March so their numbers wouldn't look bad.
2. Her donate 3 million by the end of March was not just an arbitrary figure. it was to get to 20 million, because 19 million would have looked very low.

$20 million still isn't that great.

48. Obama raised $40 million in March, Clinton's estimated at $20 million
Sen. Barack Obama has raised more than $40 million in March with the help of more than 218,000 new donors.

The amount is less than the record $55 million he raised in February, but still a sizable amount that sustains his place as the fundraising leader among all presidential candidates.

Clinton is expected to have raised about $20 million in March, but her campaign has not announced any totals. Details of their March fundraising will be made public in official reports filed with the Federal Election Commission April 20.

Obama: $40 mil+

*snip*

Clinton has not announced her March fundraising figure yet.

The Clinton campaign has said it would not release its March figures until it is required required to file a report with the Federal Election Commission on April 20, just two days before the critical Pennsylvania primary on April 22.

62. Woooo-hoooooo!!!! Let's hear it for the vendors!!!!
FINALLY, her IOU-not-worth-the-knapkins-they-are-written-on have surfaced to a point where she has to live like a REAL person...crappy credit = no MORE credit til you clean up your mess. Welcome to the real world, Hillary.

Hence the recycled 3 am commercial??

Anxiously awaiting her new FEC website IOU list in a few weeks. She can hide her fucking numbers from the MSM all she wants NOW..can't hide from the FEC.

What she is hoping is that the average "catch the news every now and again" voter probably has no clue what the FEC reports are, never mind how to find them on the internet.

Seeing as how several of her vendors are production/event companies and for her rallies , it will be interesting if we see dramatically scaled down HRC appearances in PA.
