Gotta say it. Hil's campaign has gone way corny and cheesey.*
*Standard disclaimer:
I'm a yella dawg and I'll vote for everyone on my ballot with the Big 'D' after their name, top to bottom.
And I have to say this too: I DO NOT understand ANYONE, professing to be a Democrat, who says if their horse doesn't win they'll stay home in November. ANY Democrat would be miles ahead of McCain. Period.
OK...

This whole Rocky thing in PA is SO over the top.
Playing the theme at her rallies.
"Like Rocky, I WON'T give up."
Is some Hollywood screen writer wannabe writing her speeches?
I'm embarrassed for her.
Really.
I don't dislike her.

And then the deadpan challenge to Obama for a winner-take-all bowling match.
"And I'll spot him two frames."

Puhleeze.

I listen to her and I hear 'strident'.
And maybe a little 'desperate'.
I listen to Obama and I hear (pretty much) reasoned discourse.
I hear intelligence.
But maybe that's just me.
I was for Edwards, anyway.

OK, go ahead and take your best shots.

Comparing herself to Rocky is an ironic moment of foreshadowing.

4. The "Rocky" comparison is SOOOO wrong ...
First off, Rocky Balboa LOST to Apollo Creed ... and secondly, Sly Stallone has endorsed ...
Bomb Bomb McLAME!!!!

Her strategists ought to check out the entertainment sites more frequently if they're going
to use pop culture references.

7. Well, that's two things I didn't know.
I think I've only seen all of the first Rocky movie.
So I didn't know he lost a bout, ever.
And Stallone is a McCain supporter?
Well, that makes the whole Rocky ploy even dumber.

Miz t. has been a Hillary supporter from the get go.
and today she said "Spare me the Rocky crap."

Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 05:56 PM by C_U_L8R
The name fits... and so do the ingredients.

Every time the Rocky theme plays, Pennsylvania lets out a collective groan.

22. On Pork Roll and Scrapple:
When I was a kid a family we were friends with sometimes had us over for brunch.
And sometimes they'd serve Pork Roll.
I remember it as being very salty, but I liked it.

A while back I looked for, and found it, on the web.
But REALLY expensive.
Never mind.
I guess that's one childhood experience I won't relive.

When our daughter was 6 or 7 we spent a week-end in in Hershey, PA.
Chocolate Capital of the World.
We had a good time.

At breakfast one morning I ordered scrapple.
I'd heard about it, but never had it.
I actually liked it.
Miz t. and Lil Bit said "Euuwwww".
;-)

30. Now you have REALLY confused me.
The Habbers link refers to the Dutch.
And the Pennsylvania 'Dutch'.
I've always read that the Pennsylvania 'Dutch' were actually Germans...'Deutsch".

But when they told locals they were Deutsch, the locals heard 'Dutch' and that's the way it's been ever since.
No?

31. The "Pennsylvania Dutch" were/are German descendents ("Deutsch")
But there were (and still are) "Dutch" (from the Netherlands) in the area too.. I expect a bunch came down from NYC (New Amsterdam). The Amish/Mennonites settled mostly in Lancaster County. The Germans are of course big pork eaters and probably adapted and refined what the earlier Dutch created. Besides, the 2 countries share a border.

18. That's really been her biggest problem. We never see Hillary.
She is not a very good actress and it is obvious that she isn't particularly suited to public speaking. She always seems to be projecting a facade, but not a particularly consistent one.

That's one of the reasons her campaign isn't doing so great: she really fails to connect with people.

24. Watching her April Fool's Day bowling "joke", I sort of felt the same way. It
was cheesy and corny and not really funny. I didn't find it offensive, but I found the joke and definitely the delivery totally "off" in some way.
