If you walk into GD:P without full riot gear... then you may have a problem lol
As well all know - this place is a like a mine field - that is - if words were as explosive! Thankfully, they are not! A question for all who are throwing flames and for those who are tired of wading through them - HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN - I REPEAT - HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE REASON WE HAVE ALL (well most of us) ARRIVED AT DU GD:P??

It isn't about WHO CAN THROW THE HOTTEST FLAME! This forum is a place to discuss ISSUES like the IRAQ WAR - like the leading up to the IRAN WAR - like the ECONOMY - like the FORECLOSURES - like the VETERANS BENEFITS DECREASING - like the LACK OF JOBS - like the NO BID HALLIBURTON CONTRACTS - like the DEVASTATION OF KATRINA - like the LOBBYISTS CONTROLLING OUR GOVERNMENT - like the GAS PRICES - NEED MORE REMINDERS???

YOU THINK THE 4,011 WHO NO LONGER HAVE A VOICE WOULD CARE WHAT GENDER OR RACE YOUR CANDIDATES OPPONENT IS? Or do you believe they would be searching for reassurances of WHICH CANDIDATE will END THE WAR?

If you believe the INSANE posts here will help YOUR CANDIDATE - WHICHEVER CANDIDATE YOU SUPPORT - YOU ARE WRONG! If you believe the INSANITY isn't being fed by the REAL ENEMY - THE DYNASTY - YOU ARE WRONG!

All it takes to regain control of this forum is YOU, and YOU, and YOU, YEAH I AM TALKING TO YOU! If we all start discussing the ISSUES in an intelligent way and quit feeding the posts with the insanity we can be what we once were here!

Search out the posts addressing the issues, the ones addressing the differences THAT MATTER and for that matter, POST SOME OF YOUR OWN! It is time, people, it is time we take back our forum, throw some ritalin at it or whatever... lets get back to being the intelligent, caring people we were before walking in this door!

2. Agreed
I feel the same way, too...McCain is ahead of both of our candidates right now...that should be the focus..I suppose we let our emotions get in the way sometimes.

However, with some of these thread titles, it's a bit difficult to do that sometimes..I'm sure you can understand that

4. I have been thinking of taking some time away from here
I have been here so long... really do care about DU - always was a great place to discuss our government, issues, candidates, etc. and a great place to vent our outrage against the dynasty! I refuse to let it denigrate any further and believe there are many like minded people here who can all unite to save the ship!

If I do leave, it will only be temporarily and my spare time could be filled with campaigning... which is where I should be, I guess... maybe the infiltrators will do us a favor by the constant negativity... our time would probably be better spent on the phone... I doubt we could run into people who are angrier than in this place anyhow lol

6. I actually think this place is more personal than the phone
don't ask me why, though....you can hear the persons voice, but maybe that is the reason? Maybe they sound like they are selling something...and nobody likes a telemarketer....I don't know

3. LOL! You know I had to recommed this thread.
And you're right, we should be focusing on the issues that will matter to us, not whether one candidate smokes or the other cackles. Why tear good Democrats down with personal insults when there are freepers salivating for the chance to do that themselves?

5. LOL at least we can still laugh a bit about the insanity
I mean yes, I would love my candidate to win but damn...I wouldn't tear another dem down with any non-issue crap like I am seeing here and YES it is coming from both sides... It looks like a death battle out there... I am starting to think a unity ticket might not be a bad idea... even though I do think it is a bad idea...lol

A total zoooooooooooooooooooooooo here...

Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 11:16 PM by Tribetime
I was here shortly from about late summer 04 till jan 05, when I realized a recount in Ohio wouldn't happen. Even though it was gde or something like that, everyone was as one. will that happen again?

8. The last primary season
I had a family emergency and couldn't be here. I have always heard it was horrid here at that time and they did for the most part unite... I would certainly think the losing candidate this time would try to encourage their supporters to unite behind the winner... but who knows? I would also certainly think Democratic voters are Democratic voters... but again, who knows? We may have to just wait and see and it sounds as though it could be a long wait...

11. I started lurking at DU during the last primary
and thought it was pretty bad then. I signed up after the GE when things calmed down a bit. I rarely post as I have no desire to get embroiled in the vitriol, but I'd have to say, this primary season makes me want to walk away from the forum.

Rather than the discussions being about issues, the cult of personality or identity politics seems to be the driving force.

I've already voted in my primary; my guy withdrew and I waiting for the nominee to be named so we can get down to business and get this garbage behind us.

Sometimes I just want to scream "It's the issues, stupid!" at some of the stuff I see in GD-P, but it's politics, and it will get better after the convention.
