We're Doomed...
Clip of John McCain on Letterman:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_I3Gr-O2Ak

Frankly, I laughed my ass off...to my complete and utter surprise, because I loathe McCain. It seems he can be very charming, however, which is NOT GOOD!

Forget polls, results, etc. Here's my experience/knowledge/feelings/blah blah blah that I am certain is NOT exclusive to myself:

-I am totally disgusted with BOTH Hillary and Obama right now

-I'm sick of Bill

-The Hillary vs Obama fight is now very, very tiresome and annoying

-McCain has been accused of being "too liberal" for many Republicans

-The religious right hates McCain

-McCain is undoubtedly experienced (and a Vietnam vet, too)

-McCain just made me laugh my ass off on David Letterman (and laughing makes me feel good, like it does for everyone)

-Hillary and Obama, at this point, are now associated with "tear the (Dem) party apart", infighting, lying, nastiness, and seriousness

My (highly worried and worrisome) conclusion: McCain just won some supporters, and is about to win more.

Unless Gore decides to run Independent, I will vote for the Democratic candidate (I voted Edwards in the primaries). I'm a serious voter. But we here on DU know that most American voters are NOT serious (unfortunately).

We gotta get it together, fellow Democrats. I don't want a "President McCain"...and I know you don't, either!

3. My thoughts, exactly! A writers script.
And because I know it was just a writers script, I did not find it funny. But that's just me.

7. I know it's a script
But if you saw the clip, McCain did it well, and was quite charming (facial expressions, mannerism, tone of voice).

Part of my point was that, even knowing it was a script, I laughed my ass off...and no doubt others did, too.

I won't worry too much, but we still gotta get it together...

I *did* enjoy the good laugh...and I love that line, "You look like the kind of guy who gets in the hot tub and enjoys watching his swim trunks inflate."

2. Six months to go... relax..... Obama's appearances on those shows work just as well....
...

Discounting Hillary, of course, because she won't be the nominee.

9. Im serious and curious
Does anyone know about this? I work with a lot of elders, and those looked a bit like dentures to me. It doesn't matter, in all reality. Ive known a few under 30's with dentures, for various reasons. I am just curious.

12. Personally, yes...
I personally DO believe Gore has a chance if he runs Independent.

I think a Gore/Edwards Independent ticket would win the election by a huge landslide.

Gore/Edwards has been my dream ticket since 2006.

I'm not "holding my breath" per se, but I'm a true believer of "it ain't over 'til it's over".

:-)

13. he has appeal in that crazy old uncle kinda way
:scared:

Every time I see him, he looks like he's waiting to go medieval on someone.

Not very presidential. Not someone I'd "want to have a beer with"--he might break the bottle over my head in a fit of rage.

19. I saw a clip of Letterman and McCain,
and I thought it was hilarious! The band played "Soldier Boy" as McCain came walking out, and I started laughing then!

Even though it was scripted, I thought it was funny! My favorite Letterman remark was that McCain "looked like the guy who makes your keys", and my favorite McCain remark was that Letterman "looked like the guy who liked to sit in the hot tub and watch his shorts expand"! (Not sure I've got the exact words...)

he has a sense of humor and doesn't have a swelled head. It's scary alright cause all that gives him a good chance of winning. :scared:

22. I remember McCain was actually somewhat funny when he hosted Saturday Night Live
This was, of course, when he still had a shred of respect from me, before he decided he wanted to be Bush's heir.
