“I know she’ll stand with us, just like Cesar Chavez did.”

This is lovely tribute to Hillary.

“I know she’ll stand with us, just like Cesar did.”

Honoring Cesar Chavez
by Dolores Huerta
3/31/2008 9:53:59 AM

When I look to the strength of our country, I look to the mothers and fathers who built homes and raised families, and to the working men and women who were and are this nation’s lifeline. All during my childhood, it was my mother who kept our family going. She worked two jobs as a cook to support our family through the Great Depression and through her hard work, bought her own business, two hotels that she would run herself.

But my mother did more than make sure there was food on the table, she taught us to hold our heads high and work hard for a better future. When I came home with a ‘C’ because my teacher assumed no Latina could have written my essay, and when my brother came home bruised and beaten because he dared to wear a suit, my mother helped us to keep strong.

It was her influence that led me to start organizing. I began my career working as a teacher but quickly realized that I could do more by organizing their parents than by trying to teach hungry children. Blazing a new path for my students meant standing side by side with their parents; it meant forcing change in this generation, not just hoping for change for the next –and Cesar Chavez was there leading that movement with us. On March 31st we honor Cesar’s legacy and remember his commitment to justice and change.

Cesar made ensuring well-being for others an intrinsic part of his life – something that trickled down to thousands, including myself, triggering us to become part of something larger than ourselves. It was then and there -- at that given point in time -- that I helped Cesar found the United Farm Workers of America. His lifetime of service has paved the way for many, and provided inspiration for countless others.

Throughout her life, Hillary has refused to wait for change to come. She has pushed for change with the full weight of her body and soul, and she has done so all over the world, from Arkansas to China to Washington, D.C and New York. She has fought for equal pay, a living wage, and health care for our children, and security for our families.

We need a president who will help us answer the call for change, who will help us to make the world better, and who won’t shy away from the hard fight. Hillary is that leader, and I know she’ll stand with us, just like Cesar did.

4. I have used Dolores Huerta work--she has an article in ReThinking Schools
from last summer.

Its a way for student teachers to see the 'other side"---esp when they
come from rural--mostly white areas.

2. The Clintons Represent Change!
NAFTA and almost-free trade with China were two of the biggest changes in US history. And who can forget their revolutionary use of outsourced torture as an instrument of US policy?

And then there's all of the legislative fights that she's won... I can't think of even a single one, but I'm sure a Clinton supporter will help me to remember them.

Debunking a bogus claim about Clinton's legislative record.
By Jess Henig | Newsweek Web Exclusive
Apr 1, 2008 | Updated: 12:42 p.m. ET Apr 1, 2008

Summary
A misleading e-mail has been making the rounds, alleging that Clinton has fewer legislative accomplishments than Obama, and that they are less substantive. We've had questions about it from a number of readers, and blogs have jumped into the fray. So what's the real story on the Senate careers of the Democratic presidential candidates?

We find that the e-mail is false in almost every particular:

It sets up a face-off between apples and, well, broccoli, comparing only the Clinton-sponsored bills that became law with all bills sponsored or cosponsored by Obama, whether they were signed into law or not.

It includes legislation Obama sponsored in the Illinois state Senate, a very different legislative body.

It tells us that Obama has sponsored more legislation than Clinton, when in fact he has sponsored less.

It implies that Obama has passed more bills into law than Clinton, when the opposite is true.
Contrary to the e-mail's assertions, Clinton's and Obama's contributions are not qualitatively different, and quantitatively, Clinton has the edge.

Analysis
Several alert FactCheck.org readers have passed on the following e-mail, which purports to compare the legislative effectiveness of Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.). We reprint it verbatim:

You judge for yourself!

Quite impressive!! It?s unfortunate that this information is not being communicated effectively.

Let's take a closer look at who's really qualified and or who's really working for the good of all of us in the Senate. Obama or Clinton.

5. Why did you leave out the meat of the factcheck?
" His first year in the U.S. Senate, (OBAMA) he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.

He's not just a talker.

He's a doer.

Pass it on....It's impressive!

8. Another DUbama meme debunked. Is there anything about that Fairy Tale that ended up being true?
http://mediamatters.org/items/200803040001

Matthews mischaracterized Bill Clinton "fairy tale" quote
Summary: Chris Matthews asserted that former President Bill Clinton "made a series of remarks about Barack Obama that turned off many Democrats and may have helped galvanize black voters for Obama." Matthews then aired an abbreviated clip of Clinton's January 7 comments, "This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen," leaving out his preceding comments in which Clinton made clear that he was talking about Obama's statements regarding the Iraq war and not Obama's campaign.

13. I don't support either candidate and I
saw that.. None of the media are our friends... When it gets down to one on one.. The media will try to tear our candidate a new one, just like they did with Kerry.... I don't trust them, not do I believe what I can only say amounts to their opinion, not news, and certainly not fact....

do it well...

I do think people are not believing the news like they used to as the new corps have lost credibility by pushing Bush's policies, and the war, or any of the hard issues we have been facing due to miserable failed policies by Bush and the rethugs... :hi:
