Beware the "inevitable" candidate.
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 09:13 AM by kentuck
One of the earliest and biggest blunders of the Clinton campaign was to permit herself to be portrayed as the "inevitable" nomineee of the Party. Americans do not like to be told that anything is "inevitable" - especially not political candidates. The media, and many supporters, put Hillary on a pedestal just daring someone to knock her off. Since the disappointment of Super Tuesday, she has been trying to fight her way back into the race. At one time, she lost 11 states in a row. She is no longer "inevitable" but is now situated in a much more comfortable position as underdog.

It is now Barack Obama that is being portrayed as the "inevitable" nominee. There is no way he can lose, his supporters say. The media says he is ahead in all the national polls. Many Obama supporters have called on Hillary to get out of the race. How soon they forget. It is not "inevitable" that Barack Obama will be the nominee of the Party. Do not be surprised when another Democrat is built up to the point of invincibility and then is knocked off the pedestal.

1. There's a difference between being inevitable before a single vote
has been cast and between being inevitable when the primary season is almost over- though I agree that Obama is not inevitable, but only very likely. Short of a complete implosion and dismal numbers in the majority of the last 10 contests, Obama will be the nominee.

2. People would indeed be foolish to count Hillary out.
Do or die, she wants to be the next POTUS. No telling what will next come out of her bag of tricks.
