I'll admit, it feels good to be able to be a loyalty enforcer now
Back in 2007 all of my anti-Hillary posts were met with a stream of replies of "You better support Hillary in the general election!" And there were lots of posts about how Hillary would be the nominee so the anti-Hillary folks should just shut up and get behind her now. To some basically all criticism of Hillary was taboo, mention it and you just got told to support her in the general.

Now I get to give them a taste of their own medicine. It's the Hillbots who are threatening to jump ship now. and us who get to tell the same things. Sorry, but it feels great! It probably would just be annoying if I hadn't at one point been on the other end, but it does feel great.

3. While a bit in your face, the OP does have a point.
The Hillary supporters here do have a long history. Sometimes you get to eat your words.

5. and some people who supported Gore and Kucinich and Edwards
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 01:24 PM by Horse with no Name
speaking for myself...have had to endure abuse from both sides supporters so all in all, I don't feel very sorry for the OP--but was thankful to be able to note the pettiness and vindictiveness--easier to keep track of. We have learned well from our republican oppressors.

32. I have to agree with that
Both sides jumped down the throats of anyone who wasn't a celebidate hard, I somehow fail to find sympathy for the OP thanks to the history a lot of Obama people have on here

19. I arrived at Hillary through the Kucinich/Edwards path.
I saw none of the hate toward Edwards when he was still running that I'm seeing now that he hasn't endorsed Obama.

I started off really disliking Hillary, but she's the only one of the two who's made even the most rudimentary of appeals to my working-class views.

Someone described Obama as 'aloof'. I have to agree. His supporters have obviously interpreted that aloofness as a green light on full-scale condescension.

20. Great. I respect your opinions. Now back to the subject.
Some long term hillary supporters here have been insufferable for years. Approximately the day kerry surrendered without a fight they started in with her inevitableness and with unending reminders of how we would be required to support her once she was the official nominee. I of course am exaggerating and stereotyping: not all Clinton supporters were annoying. Oddly, the annoying ones were pretty much a subset of the cretins who have been posting Obama Hate Spam to GDP on a non-stop basis, although some have since gone away.

I did not mean that all Clinton supporters are deserving of the OP. Many are good democrats who support Clinton and do so here fairly with meaningful posts that speak to real issues and events. And then there are the others, that subset about whom the OP was speaking.

When I was not a Hillary supporter (she was my last choice), I saw very little of the vitriol which now infects DU. This is a brand new phenomenon. Admitted, I may have considered it irrelevant at the time.

My perspective is that most Clinton supporters now are clearly aware of her faults, flaws and mistakes. Nevertheless, she's running on topics that are of value to us. I think she has learned many valuable lessons from her years of public service.

In this way, I see a clear personality distinction between Clinton and Obama. I see some of the hubris in Obama that has been such a crippling character flaw with GWB. Worse, I see some of same the messianic zeal in most of Obama's followers which gives me heebies as well as jeebies.

you want us to? I still consider myself a Democrat and hell yes I am still here. Oh and you are a supporter of that leader that supports unity and changing the way Washington works right? the one that says we are all Americans and not Democrat or Republican? That guy you know.

17. Sorry, dont converse well with others...
especially from that side of the Mississippi...its a personal thing mind you.
I thought most Hillary supporters had left and formed their own board leaving behind newbies with 55 posts telling me how bad Obama really is.
And, Washington working? Not so much lately.

Go Edwards by the way.

He doesn't inspire or move me, honestly i cannot make it through a whole speech of his. And remember your candidate is going to change the way Washington works and unify all of us, even those freepers. Thought i would throw a joke in at the end.

12. Man, I completely understand what you're saying.
After the Clinton years were hell on my family and area, I've been against them.

People were really crapping on me about Hillary for a long time.

Honestly, their comeuppance is trivial to me. Just seeing the Clintons almost completely gone from presidential politics is good enough.

24. The Hillary supporters do seem to forget their entire year prior to Iowa.
Particularly when they whine about the media being biased against Hillary, how she never gets good coverage, how unfair it is to have the nomination settled before American Samoa votes...

27. Voting for the eventual nominee
Me in 2007: See, this is why I dislike Hillary and she'd be a bad nominee...
Hillbots: SHUT UP! YOU MUST SUPPORT HILLARY IN THE GENERAL AND SHE'LL BE THE NOMINEE, SHUT UP!

Now the Hillbots get the same whenever they bash Obama. It's nice payback.

As I see it the Republicans want Obama and half the party is willingly to give him to them. I don't have to do anything if I want to sit home and watch Obama get steam rolled that's my business.
