How can this party possibly depend on Obama? He's too liberalconservative!

"Libservative"? "Conberal"? "Obamoderate"? Grrrr, damn you! Quit moving the target!

3. so you supported our involvement in Nam based on a lie
Do you realize how many Americans and Vietnamese would have died if we never invaded Viet Nam?

6. Yeah, I remember that one. That was pretty stupid.
I'm not calling Fonda my cup of tea. But Obama has a wide appeal, so a few flakes are bound to drift into the tent.

10. I have no idea but she was right that we had no business in Viet Nam
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 06:46 PM by still_one
she was wrong DIRECTLY providing propaganda to the north, but so right about illegal wars, which was why the war powers act came about until some misguided senators who don't remember history over rode it with the IWR

This is not a point to be taken lightly

20 some Democratic senators and 1 republican voted against the IWR for a reason

perhaps the OP doesn't see the connection between Fonda,(VietNam), and Hamilton,(Iraq)

DO I HAVE TO SPELL IT OUT?

Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 06:52 PM by still_one
is the connection between Viet Nam and Iraq, and the connection between the war powers act and the IWR

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

15. I really don't get your point. Wasn't Hamilton in favor of Iraq?
The War Powers Act was meant to prevent a future Vietnam. The IWR was a spineless circumnavigation of the Constitution. How are these things connected?

16. He was on the 9/11commision which said there was no connection between Iraq and 9/11
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 07:04 PM by still_one
in addition to saying Iraq had no WMDs

I have no idea what his position was on Iraq, but the conclusion of the commision he was on, no matter how mikey mouse it was, the Iraq war was based on a lie

9. Obama's the uniter that brings people together
instead of the bush uniter that turns people against him en masse.

14. im'considered'o, Lee Hamilton sees the handwriting on the wall and wants to cozy up
as close as possible to try and be of some influence on the next Dem administration.

Lee Hamilton and Bill Clinton have been two of the biggest cover up Dems in the Bushprotecting wing of the Dem party.

The endorsement will work for the general public, though. Just keep Hamilton OUT of the White House advisor loop, Barack.

19. Ok I get your point but I am irritated by the attacks here on fonda.
She is actually rather bright and not looney at all. Her misguided youthful photo-op in Vietnam was a mistake *in retrospect* but if you weren't old enough to be drafted during the war you have no idea how serious the situation was, what a total cluster fuck was going on here and there, and how many people made many such mistakes *in retrospect*. At the time many of us did anything we could think of, pretty much without hesitation, to end the war. If we all weren't so willing to make so many mistakes *in retrospect* my generation's REALLY BAD WAR would likely have gone on for another 10 years. Think about that - you would not have been able to get those nike sneakers at vietnamese production prices until 2005 instead of 1995.
