I Just Got Back From My Weekly Obama Volunteer Region Meeting...
And one of the ladies brought me a copy of Monday's afternoon paper from Lancaster. My picture is on the front page with the article about the town hall.

3. Yes, The Article Is, But Not The Picture That I'm In...
There are 8 other photos that someone posted here Monday, but I'm not visible in any of them.

5. HRC Was At F&M A Couple Weeks Ago - Obama Was At Thaddeus Stevens...
There were just over 2000. It was a town hall, not a rally. HRc had almost as many at F&M.

7. I'm Cautiously Optimistic...
We more than doubled the campaign's statewide registration goal. Our local volunteer teams are really growing. I spend some time at our local headquarters talking with the national staffers and I've heard real good reports about Philly and Harrisburg. They think this is going to be a lot closer than had been predicted.

What's the registration law in PA. Can the repugs cross over than reregister before November?

14. Sure, But I Don't Know Why They Would...
You only need to be registered for a party to vote in their primary, in the GE you can vote for anyone regardless of party affiliation. There won't be another primary for two years. The thing is, a very large percentage of party switches were from independent (who can't vote for either party here) to democrats. There were also a lagre number of new democrats who were registered for the first time, high school seniors and college kids mostly. A relatively small percentage are repubs switching and I would think most are legitimately disenchanted with their party because of the war, economy etc.

15. I didn't get to see Obama ... got to the HQ too late to get a ticket :-(
The mayor of Lancaster offered Clipper Magazine Stadium (our local baseball venue) with its 6,000 seats, to the Obama campaign, so more people could see him. But they wanted this smaller venue to connect with the peeps.

This is a VERY red area (but getting a bit bluer) ... the classic "Alabama in between" ... and I heard a lot of people (Repubs included) talking about how smitten they were with Obama. I think he was a hit here. I know they liked him at the chocolate factory (ignore Maureen Dowd!)

And he sure was a hit at Penn State on Sunday -- supposedly, he drew the biggest crowd ever for a political rally there.

18. We have a closed primary (so only Dems can vote for Dems, Repubs for Repubs, etc.)
But I know that some people do switch parties just for the primary (to vote for a particular national or local candidate) then switch back before the general.

The deadline has passed to register or switch your registration for our April 22 primary this year.

19. So your saying...
Massive amounts of repugs (per Rush Limbaugh) could have crossed over only to return AGAINST the dem nominee in November. Like Ohio @ Texas.

23. Theoretically, it's possible.
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 09:53 PM by gauguin57
However, I cannot fathom how followers of Rush Limbaugh can find their rear ends with both hands, let alone find their way to the polling place. (Yeah, you Dittoheads ... I'm talkin' about YOU!)

So maybe we're safe from Operation Chaos.

they pretty much did just that in TX and OH. There are alot of these sheep who will do just what that fucker says . There's NO difference between Rev. Wright and Limbaugh and Hannity et al. Except, these hate mongerers are broadcast nationally.

25. I've heard different stories about OH and TX .. Rush seems to think he made a difference ..
... I'm dubious. I know there are plenty of dittoheads running around ... but I'd be more inclined to think a lot of Republicans came to their senses once they realized McCain is gonna be their nominee! Or, they came to their senses a couple of years ago, once they realized what a colossal mistake they made in voting for Dumbya.

Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to counteract their stupidity ... people have a right to change their registrations for any reason. As long as they follow the party-switching registration procedure before the deadline, they can vote in the primary of their choice.

Fortunately, a lot of new "actual" Democrats registered in PA this year.
