Hillary Clintons' Donnie McClurkins
An Open Letter to Perez Hilton
Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 09:02:14 PM PDT

Can I acquaint you with some of the truly upstanding people with whom your preferred candidate, Hillary Clinton has associations?

I'm not excusing Donnie McClurkin or Rev. Meeks, but we need to stop spinning this and pretending that Hillary doesn't have her own associations.
The point here I am trying to make, is they both have said, that they want to do something about the issue. While we may not get them to go so far as to support gay marriage right now, at least they are willing to fight for civil unions. To me that is clearly a step in the right direction. It beats the nothing that Republicans are willing to do.

Obama's Religious church openly supports GLBT....does Hillarys'?

At any rate its a moot point, they both are willing to fight for civil unions.

4. Well, her Congressional prayer group would likely have issues with it
considering who's in there. What were they called again?

5. Perez Hilton is an attention whore.
It's pretty well documented. I think it actually hurts Hillary to have his support.

6. Richard Mellon Scaife Wants To Execute Practicing Homosexuals
Seriously - The Clintons actively sought the endorsement of an ultra-rich monster who funds a group that wants to kill homosexuals.

"Scaife also funded the Western Journalism Center, headed by Joseph Farah. Farah has been connected to reconstructionism, a movement to replace judicial law with Christian Old Testament law. The organization is antigay, and would move to punish "practicing homosexuals" by sentencing them to death."

Why doesn't anyone really see this as a problem? It blows my mind.

19. I think Clinton supporters should get on the horn about his and let her know it's not OK. That said:
But the reality is, the McClurkin thing, Obama's religiosity, and the fact that he is never seen with us (Clinton has been to pride parades, etc. Her and Bill Clinton were the first folks in presidential politics to reach out to gays. Despite all the bullshit that went down with the Clintons, gay people know they aren't afraid to be seen with us in public.) Obama, on the other hand, is like those white people who talk about the 'plight of the inner city' with other white people but who lock their doors an African-American banker or a Jamaican college student. It's been discussed by many here that we get the sense he's personally grossed-out by us. Couple that with 'hangs with homophobes' and you get real distrust. With Clinton, I think folks say 'well, she likes us and she'll probably do something for us to the extent that it won't hold her back, although she'll probably sell us out if it suits her needs.'

It doesn't matter what church she attends or who she hangs with because a lot of people believe that she'll take you back 100 steps to take you forward 101. The fear is that Obama will take us back 100 to push us up 99. A small but significant difference. If Obama really wants gay votes, it'd be wise for him to do some photo ops with gay crowds the way Clinton has in the past. It'd really help people lighten up towards him. If you have any of those, you might want to post them--it'd probably help your candidate out a lot.
