Obama Catches Clinton in Support From Superdelegate Lawmakers
Bloomberg News: Obama Catches Clinton in Support From Superdelegate Lawmakers
By Nicholas Johnston and Lorraine Woellert

April 3 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama has pulled even with Hillary Clinton in endorsements from top elected officials, with a surge in support from congressional freshmen and governors from Republican-dominated states.

Obama yesterday won the backing of Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal, who became the sixth head of a Republican-leaning state to come out for him in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. In the past week, Obama picked up support from first-term Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania. Clinton, backed by two governors from Republican states, gained no superdelegates in that time.

Obama, 46, is endorsed by 16 U.S. House freshmen to Clinton's 6, and 40 percent of his congressional allies are from ``red states,'' or those that voted for President George W. Bush in 2004, compared with one-quarter for Clinton. That bolsters the Obama campaign's argument that he would have broader backing in the general election.

1. Superdelegates don't matter

Time to quit Hillary .... and she can stop w/ the Obama can't win
"straw man" because if she can't beat a sure loser what does that

2. Yes.
I don't get the twisted logic behind: "Hillary can't defeat Obama, but since Hillary thinks Obama can't defeat McCain, then Hillary should be the nominee???"

That is really ridiculous spin on the Clinton's part.

3. Oh, the hell they don't!!!
Face it, Hillary is not going to give up.

Obama will not have enough "pledged" delegates after the primaries to secure the Nomination.

Superdelegates will matter greatly then.

6. Obama is going to get the endorsements of people up for re-election
who expect to ride his coattails. Obama is responsible for a huge surge in new voters in all 50 states and that hasn't gone unnoticed. If Hillary is the nominee, some of them might not come out.

10. Oh they can spin! Just yesterday I heard a spin that if Hillary comes within 60 delegates
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 07:50 AM by earthlover
in the pledged delegates, that would be a "moral equivalency".

So, I guess that will be another spin to look forward to. Just catching up is not important. Getting close is a "moral equivalency".

The goal posts are getting a work out in Hillary Land....
