ABC~ Clinton tax returns to see offshore income?
*snip*

Financial disclosure documents already filed by the New York senator show she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, have made at least $50 million since leaving the White House in 2001. ABC News investigative reporter Brian Ross takes an early crack at divining what details may be revealed from the Clinton's tax returns, which her campaign has said will be released within the next two weeks.

The tax returns, Ross says, "will answer a lot of questions about how they made so much and whether they paid their taxes like average Americans -- or the like the super rich they've become."

1. George Stephanapouls said this morning they have offshore
accounts in the Cayman Islands. Their purported reasoning for these accounts, according to George S, is to attract foreign investors.

7. I hesitate to trust Brian Ross
because he has shown himself to be somewhat less than honest when dealing with Sen Obama, too.

8. From Caymen Island Site:
Hillary has refused to release the Clintons’ tax returns since she and Bill left the White House. Hillary is trying to hide from the voters as long as possible how much she and Bill have profited from the kind of offshore tax havens and other tax loopholes that she decries on the campaign trail. She and Bill are profiting at the expense of the working class Americans to whom she panders – a fact that she does not want the voters to know before they go to the polls.

Even worse is the mystery surrounding Bill’s relationship with three Cayman Island-based global funds, run by his billionaire pal Ron Burkle. Through WJC International Investments GP, Bill Clinton has invested in Yucaipa Global Holdings and Yucaipa Global Partnership. Bill is one of three owners of the Yucaipa global fund’s general partner.

9. I wish some reporter will ask Bill about this:
After Mining Deal, Financier Donated to Clinton

By JO BECKER and DON VAN NATTA Jr.
Published: January 31, 2008
Late on Sept. 6, 2005, a private plane carrying the Canadian mining financier Frank Giustra touched down in Almaty, a ruggedly picturesque city in southeast Kazakhstan. Several hundred miles to the west a fortune awaited: highly coveted deposits of uranium that could fuel nuclear reactors around the world. And Mr. Giustra was in hot pursuit of an exclusive deal to tap them.

Unlike more established competitors, Mr. Giustra was a newcomer to uranium mining in Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic. But what his fledgling company lacked in experience, it made up for in connections. Accompanying Mr. Giustra on his luxuriously appointed MD-87 jet that day was a former president of the United States, Bill Clinton.

"Kazakhstan’s president, Nursultan A. Nazarbayev, whose 19-year stranglehold on the country has all but quashed political dissent."

"Mr. Nazarbayev walked away from the table with a propaganda coup, after Mr. Clinton expressed enthusiastic support for the Kazakh leader’s bid to head an international organization that monitors elections and supports democracy."

-snip

Just months after the Kazakh pact was finalized, Mr. Clinton’s charitable foundation received its own windfall: a $31.3 million donation from Mr. Giustra that had remained a secret until he acknowledged it last month. The gift, combined with Mr. Giustra’s more recent and public pledge to give the William J. Clinton Foundation an additional $100 million, secured Mr. Giustra a place in Mr. Clinton’s inner circle, an exclusive club of wealthy entrepreneurs in which friendship with the former president has its privileges.

WHY WAS HE WILLING TO ENTHUSIASTICALLY WINNING TO SUPPORT A NOTED OPPRESSIVE TYRANT TO HEAD AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION THAT MONITORS ELECTIONS? -this makes me sick to my stomach!

11. Yes, Nazarbeyev is a scumbag of the first order
I read about this back in November/December and was shocked to find out that Clinton would give him his support. The only reason we have not heard more about is that sadly many Americans couldn't find Kazakhstan on a map and don't really give a shit about what happens in a place like that. It's like Africa, you have to crisis like Rwanda or Darfur before people take serious notice. Of course our idiot media doesn't help.

12. It's bad enough to even meet w him in Kazakhstan but to support him monitoring other elections is
beyond me. After I read this, I was embarrassed I ever voted for Clinton ( I work on election reform and to me, this is a slap on the face of all who want fair, transparent and verifiable elections. It is also telling as to why there was silence from the Clinton camp after 2000 and 2004. Seems like their silence made way for a Hillary run in 2008.
