Go ahead, vote McCain or third party, here's your prize..
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 01:37 PM by walldude
Here's some of the highlights from the last time we didn't get a Democrat in office. And believe me, these are the "easy" pictures. Spend an hour on Google Images looking at the key words "Abu Grahib, Iraq War, and Katrina, see if you can do it without puking.

So go ahead. Call me a sexist, misogynist, racist, homophobe, moron, troll, stupid, fool, idiot, retard, jackass, asshole, jerk. Whatever you like. I'm done with people who enjoy celebrating the "deaths" of people who have been standing against this crap for years. I'm tired of being called a misogynist because I disagree with Hillary''s campaign tactics. I'm tired of being called a homophobe because I support Obama. I'll vote for anyone who will put a stop to this madness. Hillary or Obama. I'm sorry if your wittle feewings are hurt by one of the candidates, but you know what? I feel more sorry for the little girl. And her picture is nothing compared to some of the others I've seen, like the one of the 7 year old with his legs blown off and his father screaming for help. Somehow for me, that trumps the pathetic rantings over Hillary's Bosnia claims and Obamas Reverend.

Ask yourself why you'd sell out your values to vote for a corporate shill who has backed more Bush policies than she's fought.

12. Yes I am a big bad name caller.. if the shoe fits.
So please tell us how McCain is going to end all this and Hillary is going to keep it going?

I happen to be an Obama supporter for the reasons you mentioned and a few others, however I'm not stupid enough to think that voting McCain or third party out of spite is a good idea.

Hey I have an idea! Maybe you can take your American "values" over to Iraq and explain to that kid how you're sorry about his legs.

24. .......

I saw that, and all I could think of was my family.

I may blow steam, say some unpopular things- but in the end I can't deny that I'll pull the lever for Hillary no matter how much I disagree with her if she gets the nom. My husband will take some serious convincing, but I'm bookmarking your thread to show him. He's frothing mad at HRC right now, maybe this will bring him back to reality a little bit. Painful to see :(

The agony of that father and child...

43. Well said
For a while, I thought I would be so mad if Clinton got the nomination despite having fewer pledged delegates that I would not be able to vote for her. But I envisioned myself in the voting booth, and I realized I couldn't imagine I'd go through with not voting for her even if I said I wasn't going to. I thought ahead to election night, and realized that no matter who the nominee is I am going to want the Democrat to win, and I thought about how much guilt I would feel watching the returns if I hadn't voted for the nominee. If I lived in Massachusetts or Idaho maybe I'd consider doing something else, but I live in Virginia, which is now considered a swing state, and there's no way I could not vote for the Democratic candidate.

We have been living in a nightmare for over 7 years; hell, more accurately, people like those in the pictures you posted have REALLY been living -- and dying -- in the Bush nightmare.

Whether it's Clinton or Obama who ultimately gets the nod as the Democratic nominee, you can bet I will be voting for her/him. Period.

This long national nightmare MUST come to an end.

22. Yeah well there isn't a "non-rich" American who
isn't feeling the effect of the neo-con economic policies, plus the fact that the feds bailed out Bear Stearn and left homeowners to rot.

I think Americans have had enough. And with the right campaign strategy we could put Alvin and the Chipmunks up against McCain and beat him in a landslide. All the punditry and crap aside, you are right, people vote with their wallets, and right now there are a lot of thin wallets out there...

23. These threads are pointless right now
Many people on both sides are angry and some are posturing, figuring if they say they won't vote for the other candidate if their candidate doesn't get the nomination it will affect voters' opinions of their electability.

The time to address this issue is after the nomination is decided and people have had a bit of time to cool off. Let's hope that is not August no matter what happens.

31. I won't call you any of those things, however...
Using those horrendous images to say that somehow the Democrats, either one of them, will actually stop the carnage, especially within the first term, is being naive at best. This isn't to say McCain would be better, in fact, he would be a whole lot worse, but on Domestic policy, which is the biggest difference between Democrats and Republicans generally. So I'll vote for the Democrat, whoever it is, in the General, but not under any illusions that they are interested in stopping these atrocities. In fact, I expect they'll start new ones before they leave office in 4 or 8 years. Most likely not on the scale as Bush's atrocities, but atrocities nonetheless.

32. Actually the point was there are more important things than
bowling or Bosnia to worry about. But what difference does it make, the only reason you even saw this thread was because I've kicked it myself a bunch of times.

And please, if you think Obama or Hillary would have left N.O. to drown you are sadly mistaken.

I don't expect miracles, but after hearing Army Vice Chief of Staff General Cody yesterday talk about the Army coming apart at the seams and mentioning the "D" word (draft) I expect at least to not make things worse.

33. I focused mainly on the torture and war pictures...
and that's my fault, Democrats are a hell of a lot better at domestic policy, especially disaster management, so neither of them would have left N.O. to drown. I agree with that. As far as the second part, I guess the most I can hope for is that they won't do as much damage as the Republicans have and would further do.

35. And that doesn't even address the environmental issues at stake
Another election where this is a non-issue (at least going by what the media talking heads and hell even the blogosphere talk about :-/)-this is not directed at the OP, just the general lack of attention given to this issue.

McCain (like the good little Rethuglican he is) will be an unmitigated disaster where environmental policy is concerned. Of course some people will say the Democrats won't do enough either. Maybe they won't..I don't know-I tend to think a Democratic adminstration will at least take the steps to start addressing this truly important issue. The Republicans will do everything they can to completely decimate what few environmental protections are left in this country. They will actively oppose even minor changes being taken in the right direction.

The EPA has become such an effing JOKE under this adminstration. We all heard in 2000 how Bush and Gore were the same-this stuff is more of the same. No difference between either one of the Dems and McCain, blah blah...it is scary. After 8 years of this train-wreck of a Repuglican adminstration, some people are right there with the Bush=Gore people of 2000 :-/...I don't get it..
