HILLARY is Weaker General Election Candidate... TOO Risky for Dem Nomination...
Hillary's Negative Numbers
So, if in the course of her bid to become president, Clinton is actually sinking in popularity, what does this say about her chances of actually winning in the general election?

As someone who voted twice for Hillary's husband, and once for the former first lady herself, in the state of New York (I would have twice, but I moved to Florida before the second election), these negatives jumped out as a big concern when our present contest began. The fact is that Clinton remains a polarizing figure in American politics, and nothing she has done in this campaign so far has significantly revised this perception.

Are there good reasons to vote for her, sure, just as there are good reasons to vote for Obama and McCain. But it seems fairly clear to me that in the remaining months of what has devolved into a negative campaign, her approval ratings will only slip further away from that magic 50%. Simply put, it just isn't possible to win the presidency with a 37% approval rating.

Huge Increase in Hillary's Negatives Changing Presidential Race

According to the Gallup poll, most Americans don't like Hillary Clinton and the number of people who view her negatively has been steadily increasing ever since she announced her candidacy for President in January.

Hillary isn't wearing well. It seems as if the more people see her, the less they like her. Now, for the first time, her low likeability levels are costing her votes, as Democratic party voters are abandoning her to support Barack Obama.

1. When people don't like a candidate, they don't win......
That's my case.

I'm waiting to hear otherwise.

3. Fear, uncertainty and doubt
will be used to attempt to defeat Senator Obama should he gain the nomination. He's going to need a lot of supporters erasing those negatives for him while trying to assign those attributes to Senator McCain. Can it be done?

6. That's why Obama will win.
Hope and change are the best weapon against fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Better than running kinda of experience against losta of experience.

I can see it now, Tulsa Exaggerating First lady vs. Navy Pilot 25 year Senator 5 year POW survivor.

16. It hasn't worked very well gainst him so far.
The fact is that the more people know about him, the more they tend to like him. And he's not exactly short of supporters, or donors. Amid all the wrangling over the Democratic nomination, it's easy to forget that the Dems are outraising the Republicans by about 8:1 this election cycle.

2. Also, I want to state that if Hillary was the nominee, younger folks
would check out. To give them the choice between McCain or Hillary would be very depressing.

That's another reason she can't win.

4. Not just the young vote..but I'd venture to say a great deal of AA's will check out
I saw a poll on MSNBC that said 55% of AA's said they would not vote for Hillary. Didn't say they'd vote for McCain, so I assume many will just not vote for President.

I doubt the Independents that are for Obama would vote for Hillary.

5. Yep.....chalk that up as another reason why Hillary is unelectable!
Thanks.

Pretty soon, her only base will be the same folks that will want to vote for McCain; the ones who prefer experience and are over 60 years of age.

17. If Veruca somehow gets nominated, you can kiss the independent and youth vote goodbye
Combine that with bringing republicans out and droves, and she'd lose 40 states. It'd be a damn bloodbath.

8. And they think WE'RE hard on her...
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 01:34 PM by Cheap_Trick
That's nothing compared to the shit storm the right would unleash upon her in the GE. When they're done, there will be nothing left of her but a small greasy stain . I defended the Clintons for the 8 years they were in the White House and beyond, even when it became embarrassing to do so. I would vote for her in the GE if it came down to it, but I will no longer defend her.

When it campaigns like a right winger and acts like a right winger.....

destroy her totally. He's been more than kind, as he understands that she is a Democrat, just like him.

By the time the Pugs get through with Hillary, we'll be voting for applesauce. :(

I meant us Obama supporters. Obama himself has been more than kind to her considering the utter bullshit she's been slinging his way.

15. Glass jaw Obama
Vague and light on detail equals right wing media gold, if anything the Karl Roves of the GOP would rather go after Obama. Because he can't do the things he's doing to Hillary without the media and the right wing media brining up the fact while he claims he's against the war, they will ask why does he keep voting to fund it? And if he has so much better judgement than either Senator Clinton and McCain why his votes either matches Sen. Clinton's or he has no votes.

23. Those negatives have always been there just below the surface. Sniper-gate peeled
away the benefit of the doubt.

Besides, nothing will bring out the Goopers to vote like HRC on the ticket.

25. She's got a glass jaw.
She got surprised in Iowa and never really recovered. Good thing the Repugs, who were salivating at the prospect of facing her in the GE, won't get their wish.
