New Clinton campaign ad targets McCain on economy
1 hour, 28 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Hillary Clinton's campaign released an ad Wednesday which for the first time ignores Barack Obama, her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, and attacks John McCain on the economy. The video mirrors the campaign's now famous "3 am ad," which asked voters who they would prefer in the White House when an international crisis breaks in the middle of the night -- Clinton, or relative newcomer Obama.

The latest ad instead targets presumptive Republican nominee McCain, who either Clinton or Obama will face in November's presidential election, and questions how his policies on the US economy would stand up.

"It's 3 am, and your children are safe and asleep," the voiceover says. "But there's a phone ringing in the White House and this time the crisis is economic. Home foreclosures mounting, markets teetering. "John McCain just said the government shouldn't take any real action on the housing crisis, he'd let the phone keep ringing" the ad said, refering to McCain's reluctance for a huge government bailout of hurting mortgage lenders and homeowners. But McCain's presidential campaign took only hours to hit back, releasing the script of its own "3 am" ad.

"It's 3 am ... " the ad said, copying the opening of the Clinton ad, before diverging and hitting out at both Democratic candidates.

2. Finally, she's taking aim at the real target.
Though I have to say, that whole "It's 3 am" crap was pretty weak to begin with.

3. The real message
The real message is that she is the Democratic candidate for president which is pretty appalling when you think about it. But then those who aren't already appalled by the Clintons won't think about it and will continue to support them.

5. If she continues this, I will get back on the bandwagon
Personally I think that I and every Dem in the US would welcome it if both of them would just fire on McSame relentlessly. I don't need to hear anything bad about either one.

6. It was shown on Dan Abrams on MSNBC yesterday as a news item.
It was noted that, given that the markets are closed then, financial 'emergencies' seldom generate 3am calls to the WH.

Well, maybe if it were the collapse of the exchange in China.
