Where was the outrage then when "whore" was directed at the media? That site had a lot of readers, in fact I think I found DU through MWO.

6. No... but don't a lot of people think it was David Brock?
Since Eric Alterman and Duncan Black (Atrios) used to post at The Horse, I've always thought the best educated guess would be that the site just kind of morphed into Media Matters, obviously a more serious and thoughtful site.

But damn, The Horse was such a breath of fresh air in those awful early Bush years, eh?

2. Whore is not a "girly" word, you know. However, most nitwits do use it as
an unclever way to insult and denigrate female persons.

That's why the word, without context, the context in your example being MEDIA, is eschewed in polite society.

16. Since when do Democrats call female politicians whores?
Why not go straight for the ole high school "slut" while we're at it? Or skank--why not use that term, too?

That sort of language is not surprising at all coming from a rightwinger.

But coming from a Democrat? And a FEMALE Democrat to boot?

Kinda tough to claim the high ground with that kind of invective; it makes us look like the GOP's kissin' cousins. And it makes Ms. Rhodes look a bit "self loathing" and desperate to be "one of the boys." Has she NO respect for her own gender? Would she like to be called a fucking whore, do you suppose?

I also find it very curious that such staunch Uber-Lefty Anti-War "Liberals" and supposed "journalists" apply "sex trade" language to Sen. Clinton, too. Once (pimping out Chelsea) is unfortunate. Twice starts to look like a pattern. How long before someone drags out the old "c" word?

I imagine if anyone suggested that Obama was "pimping out" his "fucking whore" wife to cadge votes, there'd be a bit of a hue and cry....don't you?

And my guess is, the punishment for anyone mouthing off like that about "The Obamas" would involve a LOT MORE than "suspensions"--anyone coming up with that sort of commentary would get the IMUS treatment on steroids, coupled with Banishment Into The Wilderness, Forever, and Ever, Amen.

18. Oh, really?
How would you like it if someone told you to tell that to the "fucking whore" who gave birth to you? Does that sound appropriate to you?

And if you took issue, suggested that your "outrage" was "faux?"

It's an inappropriate term. Something that the GOP are comfortable with, but Democrats? I'm surprised, and not pleasantly so.

If the "GOBAMA" team thinks that kind of language is "OK" then I really don't want anything to do with them. However, I think you're unrepresentative of the group--and that your commentary is more an ugly and unfortunate reflection on YOU than your candidate.
