So some progressives and Air Head America don't believe in free speech |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 04:56 PM by bigdarryl
Randi was doing a comedy skit and got suspended for saying something about a candidate for president. What the fuck has this country come to when you can't even say something about a candidate.Randy should quit Air Head America and get a solo radio spot some place else. All these late night guys hit the candidates every night and its funny but a little lady like Randi says something and shes in jeopardy of loosing her job. OH i forgot its the Clinton's. Randi bashes her repeatedly so shes punished for it

1. I am with you. People should get so upset over Hillary's ACTIONS |
|
And, I was fool enough to vote for her in MA. I think Obama is way to corporately tied btw. I just couldn't stand Hillary anymore after her negative campaigning. When I saw her with Rove, I was done

3. I dunno. If Boortz or Limpballs has used those same words, I would have |
|
expected THEM to be punished for it too! Remember the MSNBC reporter was also suspended for using "pimping their daughter" comment. I suspect there might not have been a problem for Randi if that event hadn't been sponsored by a radio station. Some things go over the line of free speech!
BTW, I voted for Barack on Super Tuesday, but I think some language should be off limits for use in the public no matter if it references candidates or anybody else.

4. free speech= congress shall make no law... |
|
when you own a company, you can do whatever you like as long as you fall within legal guidelines. I've heard of firing employees for all kinds of reasons.

5. Not to mention all of the GARBAGE that comes out of Limbaugh |
|
And Hannity, and O'Reilly, and the rest of them. They never get in any trouble for it, though.

However, their employers might do the same if they had made a similar comment about one of their own party.

7. I didn't hear what was said |
|
but reminds me of when Bill Mahr got the ax on ABC for stating an opinion. This is more Bush like behavior, which I disagree with completely. Free speech is just that, why not go after Rush, or the other Repugs, that have made fun of the Clinton's for years, but going after one of our own, just because you disagree with their opinion, I'll say it again, it's just so Bush like

So, free speech doesn't apply in this instance.
I hope it's only a temporary suspension. Even given her caustic approach, her voice is important.

Maybe it's losing the nomination to a first-term Senator.

14. The free speech angle on this Randi thing is pretty silly, imho... |
|
She didn't get arrested and thrown in jail for saying what she said. She got suspended from her job for it. Big difference. As one of the public faces for the AA network, she not only represents herself, but also her employer. Has nothing to do with free speech.
If I was sitting in a conference room at my job with a bunch of clients sitting around and spewed disrespectful things like that, I certainly would expect to get fired for it.

17. sorry as an Obama supporter she should have known better. only problem I have is that |
|
beck, hannity, limbaugh, buchannan, and others aren't suspended for THEIR racist statements over OUR public airwves
Randy was extrmely unprofessional, and she knows as a host of a progressive station, to call one of the Democratic canidates a "fuc*ing whore" is bad for business by insulting Clinton supporters
if I owned the station I would have done the same thing
as a business you don't insult half your listeners
