Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 05:59 PM by GarbagemanLB
and the CNN reporter said some reporters from other news organizations had not only been sitting in on services but also had been handing out business cards during worship and calling the sickest members of the congregation because their names showed up on 'prayer lists'. Not to mention the bomb threats. Fucking disgusting. Of course, I then (mistakenly) turn to Fox and that dumb blond woman and that douchebag Geraldo Rivera are talking about Wright. Fuck them, and fuck any Clinton supporter who throws a congregation of 8,000 people, from a church that is well regarded in its community and the greater UCoC organization, under the bus for political gain.

When Hillary tried to deflect the attention from her blatant Bosnia lies onto Obama by finally addressing the issue after being REPEATEDLY ASKED for a week about the Wright controversy (and refusing to comment), only to throw Wright and the congregation under the bus, while McCain (MCCAIN, of all people) was classy enough to defend Obama....

I am just furious. Fuck Fox. Fuck Hillary, and fuck anyone on this board who uses a good church as a tool for political gain.

1. Those people are the same ones Clintons turned to when they needed a foundation to support them
during and after impeachment.

Using Wright to bait the superdelegates is furthering this disrespect for the very black churches the Clintons needed and used to stay in power.

2. Not to be picking on you, but...
that should be United Church of Christ and abbreviated UCC.

5. Thank you. I was about to post this.
I'm UCC myself. We'd like to be universal, but it's hard enough just being united!

3. So, now Clinton is responsible for anything that
a reporter does, if it involves Obama in any way? Wow, you are smoking some strong shit!

8. I suggest you study denominations more closely because not all require that each church obey the
parent denomination's doctrine.

The United Church of Christ and Unitarian Universalism are excellent examples of that compared to the Roman Catholic Church.

10. I will support Obama 100% if he is our nominee
as I think he will be.

But it's foolish to attack Hillary for the Wright flap. The right wingers will play this issue for all it's worth without any help from Hillary.

What Obama has to do is to make his church going a plus for him, not a negative. Of course, that's hard with all of the tapes of Wright's speeches. But if anyone can do it, Obama can.

11. If this is all they have to smear Obama..it's pathetic..
To destroy a church in the name of ...what?

Desperation... they should hang their heads...

Yet, in some odd way, I'm not surprised.
Nothing they (the MSM, and the right wing)
nothing they do,
no matter how low they stoop,
nothing surprises me anymore.

12. To those of you saying my anger towards Hillary is misplaced:
McCain and Hillary both commented on the situation, but Hillary only did so in the heat of her Bosnia lies (after having been asked repeatedly for a week beforehand). McCain defended Obama, Hillary did not. She used the situation to throw an 8,000 member church under the bus. It is amazing, when you look at Hillary and McCain's comments on the issue side by side, you'd think McCain was the Democrat. That tells a lot about Hillary.

14. I don't believe your anger is misplaced
Hillary did try to use this to her advantage. Of course Hillary is not to be held responsible for her actions. I just hope the people stay safe at the church because there is no telling what is going to happen. The threats the church is receiving is sickening.

13. What a bunch of garbage, man.
Screw Obama and all those who believe in him! How does that feel? Well, by cursing Hillary, you are cursing your own candidate for those of who support Hillary. How do you like them apples?

15. My anger is towards Hillary and ONLY those on this board who tried and continue to try and smear a
church that has obviously done much for the community and a man who is well-regarded by his peers (including even the Clintons at one point, until it became politically advantageous to throw him under the bus).

If you support Hillary and disagreed with that tactic of hers, fine....this thread isn't aimed at you. There are clearly those, however, who will stoop to any level to attack Obama, even if that means calling the pastor of an 8,000 member church, and a man who is respected by many, a bigot and a racist.

... the better it is for Clinton. Of course, they wouldn't bother if it didn't work. Thanks, white America - stay classy!
