If Louis Farrahkan and Jane Fonda want to help Obama |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 06:04 PM by PlanetBev
why openly endorse him? Their names are radioactive to the Right and will just add to the Fox/Wingnut destroy-Obama-at-all-costs machine.
Am I wrong here?

1. They are radioactive to more than just the right. |
|
I'd say all but a small minority of Americans think both are whackjobs - and unfortunately it's very dicey for any national candidate to tell either one of them to kiss off because the minority that agrees with Fonda and Farrahkan is somewhat powerful politically.

5. Not just radioactive to the right |
|
Radioactive to the center, and in the case of Farrakhan, radioactive to anyone who thinks that he was involved in the conspiracy in '65.
The one thing you could say about "Clintonian oppurtunism", they knew when something or someone could cause the wind to blow against them. Hence, Lani Guenier, Jocelyn Elders, and thoses are just the two that come off the top.

6. Maybe they have self-esteem or something |
|
and don't care what their critics say.

7. Because their endorsements are more about keeping their names in the news |
|
and feeding their egos, rather than actually trying to help Obama.

10. I think this is true... |
|
But I also think they must know on some level that they aren't helping Obama at all. No more than GWB is helping McCain, actually.

As long as we're in the United States of America, people are free to speak and endorse who they wish. Even the most "toxic" among us.
Nutty supporters do not represent the candidates. Obama has eloquently "rejected AND denounced" Farrahkan, and only freeper-types who wouldn't vote for any Democrat for any reason give themselves the vapors over stupid shit like this.
I'm not afraid of the Wingnut Machine. Not this year.

12. Having a Clinton on the ticket is a dream ticket....for the Republicans |
|
As for endorsements, are the endorsements of porn star Jenna Jameson or prostitute deluxe Heidi Fleiss for Hillary Clinton something that the Obama people should bring up?
Obama didn't seek the endorsements of Farrakkan or Fonda and neither are surrogates for the campaign. It wreaks of absolute desperation to try to link either of them as somehow making Obama having them as part of the message.
