31. The global economy was already rolling, Reagan had already crushed unions |

Toyota was well along in replacing GM/Ford/Mopar, Sony with replacing GE/RCA/Sylvania, foreign steel was putting big American steel out od business. The party was over before Clinton ever had a chance to anything about globalization.

The best years in America was following the end of World War 2.
During Clinton we got a bunch of crap and lost the advantage in Congress. Leading to George Bush afterwards.
If they were the best years then Gore would have won by a LANDSLIDE.

Lets see during WW2 the economy picked up greatly from depression levels. Then afterwards the soldiers came home to start families and be in America again.
It was a greatly happy time. A true happy time not the happy you get when you stocks are high or your .com site during the 90s gets 20 thousand hits.

Most of Indiana is rural and working class, Clinton's traditional "base." And Hillary enjoys widespread institutional Democratic support in the state. Hillary's the one who should be walking away with Indiana, save the Chicago suburbs like Gary.
This race ends in Indiana and North Carolina if Hillary can't produce blowouts in both.

I don't know it to be true, but I would imagine a huge % of IN's population lives within 50 miles of Chicago.
This should be his home turf.

13. Indianapolis is a very large city, one of the rural midwest's largest. |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 08:22 PM by VolcanoJen
It's built for Clinton, based on demographics, but Obama performs exceedingly well in urban areas.
Another large population center of Indiana is the southeastern part that serves as an exurb of Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati was Obama's biggest Ohio stronghold and should be strong for Obama.
The rest of Indiana is rural heartland. In any other year, against any other candidate, you'd have to hand the state to Clinton. This year, not so much, and it's going to be tight. But I'd really be surprised if Obama takes any part of the state outside of the Chicago and Cincinnati exhurbs, and Indianapolis.
If Clinton can't win Indiana, and coupled with an almost certain North Carolina loss, her path to the nomination becomes impossible. Race ends on May 6th.

I grew up in Indiana, live in Illinois.
That being said my mother is having a hard time keeping up with demand for Obama Campaign paraphernalia in Southern Indiana. A real hard time.
No one can remember the last time a presidential campaign set up shop in their town. Everyone is surprised that he is doing that well.
