Damn, where is that silly lapel pin
April 03, 2008

A values question

This, from a CBS/NYT poll of 1368 registered voters (.pdf) out this evening, cuts across quite a bit of conventional wisdom, and seems to suggest that attacks which really centered on Obama's values and patriotism haven't, yet, cut.

Do you think shares the values most Americans try to live by, or doesn't (s)he?

Obama 70%
McCain 66%
Clinton 60%

Their writeup:

The biggest gap between Obama and Clinton on this comes from Republicans. Most Republicans, 52%, think Obama shares America’s values but far fewer, only 27%, think Clinton does. Independents and Democrats think they both do, but Obama fares better here, too, by 13 points. Republicans and Independents both think McCain shares America’s values, and half of Democrats do.

New CBS/NYT Sounding

There's a new CBS/NYT poll out; but I haven't yet seen a write-up of the campaign details. So a few nuggets, which will be followed later with a write-up at TPM Election Central.

The internals look significantly better for Obama than Clinton. For instance, Democrats overwhelmingly think Obama's the stronger general election candidate -- 56% to 32%. On favorable vs. unfavorable ratings, Obama has the biggest net positive of all three candidates -- 19%. Clinton has a net negative 1%.

6. That's because people don't bother with the silly stuff happening
during this campaign. They have seen Obama, they know his message, and they like him.

7. It's pretty bizarre when
the media continue spinning a scandal long after most people have become aware of the facts and insist that it isn't.

14. The NY Times has lost all credibility in this race.
Shrill Hill Shills, with the lack of credibility and integrity that typifies such.
