Mike Malloy is on AARPhoenix talking about Randi Rhodes right now...
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 08:32 PM by fadedrose
I posted this under the Randi Rhodes thread, but thought I'd repeat it in a separate thread.

Mike Malloy is discussing the Randi Rhodes thingy right now...

Mike is on http://www.1480kphx.com/DynamoPages.php?PID=22 (Air America Phoenix) .

He was fired from Air America - never said why, but I SUSPECTED.....that it was because he was critical of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton - and this was BEFORE Hillary started running for president. He called them republicans...

He's saying right wing thugs took over AAR....financially....because left wing liberals didn't support AAR.

Anyway, Stephanie Miller is on Air American Phoenix too, and she's been against Hillary, or maybe I should say, for Obama since the beginning of the the election cycle. Also Jeff Farias is on AARP, also for Obama. Randi Rhodes is on too, as are most of the Air America people.

Try it. I game up Air America long time ago, only listen to 1480.

Edited to say that I live in Michigan - not AZ....found 1480 when they put on Mike Malloy...

She continues to blame Obama for people calling her to complain. She is continuing to play the story and her as the victim...so because of this Id have to agree with Randi's assessment of Geraldine Ferraro.

...and I can't believe the nerve of Hillary's theatric performance today in Memphis. Clinton supposedly holds dear the memory of King, yet trashed Obama for attending a church that preached the sentiments of Dr. King.

7. If it was only about...
Rhodes being anti-Clinton and pro-Obama, she would have been booted off of there a long time ago. Perhaps they were just waiting for her to go over the line, even off the air, to have an excuse to suspend or even fire her. From what I understand her show is still pretty popular so Air America was still raking in the dough and that's what matters most to them even though they disagree with her choice between the candidates. Either way, I think she did deserve to be suspended simply because it'll help her chill out some. I think they should just suspend her until a nominee is selected.

8. Malloy says that airamerica inner-core is supportive of Clinton.
Said that is the reason Rhodes was suspended, not because of remarks she made at some event.

Malloy says he might be sued for his remarks and he doesn't care; bring it on.

25. Dang...
Malloy is pissed big time about this. He is definitely right about Geraldine's response. No one should compare this to Imus, which is what Ferraro is doing. She even said that Rhodes said this on her radio show. She didn't. She said it in a night club. It's not the same situation as doing it on the air, so a firing is not necessarily the proper action but that is what Ferraro is calling for. I do think a suspension is the proper decision.

49. Satellite Radio
You get a special antenna and a little dashboard receiver module and you can listen to uncensored talk and music. It runs about 10 bucks a month and it's worth EVERY FUCKING PENNY.

I haven't listened to a regular radio station in nearly a year and a half. Regular radio sucks. It's watered down and spoiled with bullshit commercials every 5 minutes. On top of that, if your station doesn't make enough revenue then they shit on you and switch formats. Fuck all that noise. Let the right wing mouthbreathers have the AM stations. I no longer have to listen to their dribble and I couldn't be happier.

That's what I do. My Sirius unit sits on my computer desk, antenna on the window, and broadcasts on 89.7 FM (you can pick lots of frequencies btw, whatever works for you in your area) and I can pick it up in every room in my apartment, on 5 different radios. Yes, I have a radio in every room, even in the shower. :)

I also listen to and record the online stream using Starplayr for Mac. It's completely awesome.

At least my model does. You may want to make sure the radio you get does it! Mine also buffers, so if you pause your radio you can have a saved buffer for say, an hour and a half or more on Talk Left, at least until you change the channel. I listen buffered so I can fast forward through any commercials, and a trick I've learned is that if I want to save a show to listen to a little later, I'll take the antenna out of my window and put it where it gets no reception, so it actually saves the hour and a half of show I have in buffer, if that makes sense. :D If you get a more recent model radio you'll likely have a bigger buffer than I do. I saw one that gets 3 hours on talk radio! Some channels may vary though because they stream at higher bitrates. I get around 45 minutes of buffered high quality music, for instance.

No commercials on music radio, by the way, but since some of the talk radio shows are syndicated, they do have some commercials. The Sirius original shows like Alex Bennett, Lynn Samuels and Mark Thompson have maybe a minute or two of commercials max at a time though... it's really not bad and nowhere near as bad as regular, terrestrial radio. If you're not buffering you can always switch the channel to any one of over a hundred channels... makes the time fly by a lot faster when you're checking out what's on the other channels. :)

That's a little steep but if it's worth it I'll scratch up a few pennies. I'll look into it more but so far it sounds like a great alternative. I'm a little sick of Clear Channel taking over the conventional airwaves. Thank you!

I know its really important if you are a talk radio host. I listened to Malloy last night and then Jon and then Stephanie and then Sam and guess what: I don't want to hear about it for another 24 hours. There is other stuff going on in the world.

Randy can eat some humble pie and apologize just like she was telling Hillary to do a few weeks ago. Or she can leave and get another job. I don't care. Just stop talking about it like its front page news. Its not. There are plenty of other people who can fill her shoes.
