Wes Clark for Vice-President 2008! |
|
I think this man is the key to a resounding win on November. A General. A well respected, well recognized man. We wouldn't lose any needed House or Senate seats. He would neuter McDubya-the war hero, and bring REAL foreign policy experience.
Would he take the spot with Obama?
Obama would be a fool not to have him on the short list, even though he is a staunch Clinton supporter. Once we have a Nominee, we are all Democrats again, including General Clark.

He isn't very charismatic, but not many will be next to Obama.

...hell, I'd pinch my nose and get behind (at least moneywise), a Clinton/Clark ticket.

8. I would too. Always liked Clark. The question is; |
|
Would he abandon ship once the nomination is made or will those ties continue?

I think he is a smart guy and a good man, just not a great campaigner.

I Also think it would be an important symbolic gesture for bringing the two sides together, while avoiding the liabilities of having Hillary be on the ticket.

|
I like the guy, maybe Sec. or Defense or something.. not VP.
He does not pass the "one heartbeat away" test and he does nothing electorally

As to states....you gotta think nationally too. Clark solidifies Obama's national defense and security credentials against McCain. This is Obama's biggest weakness. This helps him across the board in all states, including the pivotal ones.
Clark compliments Obama in many ways. He is older, more mature compared to Obama's youth. He is foreign policy experienced, has negotiated with world leaders directly. He has a reputation as a moderate, but in his heart he is more progressive than Hillary or Obama. McGovern called him a "Democrat's Democrat" when he endorsed him. Michael Moore also endorsed him. Clark, like Obama, has the ability to appeal to people from more than one side of the political spectrum.
I think Clark is the perfect choice. He is liberal enough to keep Obama in line, yet has the persona of being a moderate for the election.
I do wish he hadn't supported Clinton. However, I understand loyalty.

22. Myself, I'd rather wait until he actually has won the nomination to speculate on a VP. |
|
He could use somebody with foreign affairs, and/or defense experience, somebody who is from an important and needed state who is also a good campaigner.

|
Why would Obama allow him to be VP? There are plenty of other well-qualified individuals that didn't insult him. As far as I'm concerned, Clark can go fuck himself.

this whole 'we need a military man' thing is bullshit. A military man is the LAST thing we need. There is no room in a civilan government for a man who spent 30 years of his life planning military solutions to diplimatic problems.

26. Clark has spoken out repeatedly about regional solutions to the Middle East/Iraq.... |
|
Opening up communications with the entire region.
This is not so far off from Obama's wanting to talk with our enemies....
Of course, Hillary thought that would be "irresponsible and frankly naive...."
Clark believes in communication and negotiation. Hillary believes in blustering and sabre-rattling. Clark's beliefs are more consistent with Obama.....he would be a great choice as VP. (I think his only reason for supporting Hillary is loyalty)

25. There is no man who believes more strongly in war as a last LAST resort than Clark |
|
Clark knows first hand that war is hell. He spoke to Congress AGAINST the IWR while Hillary didn't even bother to read the intelligence briefings, let alone listen to Clark's warnings about Iraq.
There are some reasons why George McGovern and Michael Murphy endorsed Clark....check them out!

General Clark has been working his ass off for the democratic party long before shit-for-brains got re-elected as Pretzeldent. I can think of no one who has done more to encourage, support and promote REAL Democratic candidates in all elected postions at every level across the country. He has been continually involved in all sorts of grassroot political movements to grow the status (and majority) of our party with true anti-neonut candidates. I don't give a damn who he wants for president. This dude has been walking the walk for a very long time, he knew exactly what shit-for-brains was up to and tried very hard to stop it. Wes knew that Iran was the ultimate wet dream that Cheney and numbnuts was after, Remember? Wes Clark has consistently pushed the liberal agenda...IMO, like our future depends on it.
