What would life be like for you "IF" McBush would happen to be "Selected"?
What would your lives be like after 4 additional years of being led by corporations? Can you envision even surviving it? I believe our nation is on the breaking point of total economic failure. If McBush is "selected" how long do you think you will have a job? Health care? A home? A car? Food? What are the chances of your survival? What steps would you take to be able to hang on to what you have?

I know foreclosures in Ohio have been extremely high for the past 7 years, I believe the average is like more than 1 in 100 loans. This number (if it hasn't already) is expected to be even higher soon. I know this is a national trend. I also know in Ohio welfare programs were cut within the past 7 years, which leaves many with hunger.

Where does it end? Yes, I am hoping with the November election, but what if for some strange reason McBush is named pResident? I have little faith in the election system (although I haven't given totally up on it). I see it as a real possibility unless we can have unity and fight this thing through the finish line in November.

I know it wouldn't take much for most of the people I know to lose everything they have worked so hard to gain. What about you and people you know? Do you believe you could survive more of the same?

2. For me, about the same.
I'm white, male, middle class, and over forty. I'm the one the Republicans try to throw tax breaks at. I'm the one who doesn't get arrested, doesn't get sentenced, is the last to be laid off, and the first to be rehired. I'm the privileged one whose privilege the Republicans try to protect. I'm too old to go to war, and both my kids are daughters, so they have less pressure to enlist. I could lose a job, a house, maybe, but when they come up with a bailout plan, I'll be the first to be bailed out.

Sure, I pay too much for gas, and I won't go to DisneyWorld or Vegas this summer. I might have to stay with my parents instead of in a hotel when I go to visit them. My savings are meager and my debt is high. But in the scheme of things, it's alright. The Republicans like me.

If I could only keep my eyes closed when I pass a street corner and see the guy with his hat in his hands, or the schools on the east side of town, or the prison blocks full to the brim with people who are no threat to anyone, or the numbers of dead with bullets in them paid for with my tax dollars, or the blood of children dripping from the flag I was taught to pledge my allegiance to... Heck, if I could keep my eyes closed, I'd be perfectly happy with McCain. Well, except that I could still hear the weeping, so maybe I'd need to close my ears, too.

4. Yeah something like that unless we get a military coup
which is starting to seem like a good idea at this point with only badly delusional people (save for Barack) running for prez.

5. If McCain wins I give up on politics.
For the only way for McCain for win is that Clinton pulled crap to win the race and then went on to be defeated by McCain pulling his crap (You know the ones hes been waiting to use for over 8 years?)

At that point many like me will have left the political scene will try to enjoy the last good years of our lives before the climate, economy, freedom etc collapses. After that point I guess I will die of something (Starvation perhaps)

However nobody will be able to blame me for not trying. I care!

6. not much effect
I can't see an election having much direct effect, so it is really hard to say. A Democratic administration may slow the slide into the abyss - would that merely be prolonging the agony? - a Republican administration may accelerate it - would that hasten the day when the people rise up?

This could change. I think many Obama supporters are hoping for a miracle - that is fine, I hope they are right. It may be too late to avoid very hard times, so it then becomes a matter of how we as a people respond to hard times. I can't see how any of us can say with confidence that this hinges on the election. The forces at play are much too big and we are much too far down the road for there to be any easy ways out. We are headed for unknown waters now, regardless of the outcome of the election.
