Congress people CONGRESS!!!
While we were fiddle farting around with this race there has been work to try to gain seats in congress by many democrats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Senate_elections%2C_2008

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_elections%2C_2008

This madness with this race has caused lack of attention to an equally important part of this year which is congressional seats. Republicans want to retake congress which will be a disaster for a democratic administration because little will be done and it will be mostly a stream of veto veto veto.

In your local district and state PLEASE support the democrat running! Going to events, getting out the vote, making phonecalls and even support youtube videos will help us move towards getting a filibuster proof congress and president which means the country can turn around!

We have got to focus here people. And this race needs to end so the attention goes to these imporatnt races! The republicans are getting a free pass!

1. The race doesn't need to end.
Hardly anyone but political junkies pay any attention until a couple of weeks before the election. We all have busy lives, but some are much busier than others.

I am very concerned about the races for Congress; but the above applies there also. There is time to give everyone a chance to vote and still get out the vote for the people running for Congress.

It is important that we have a very healthy majority because McCain could be elected, and we will need a democratic Congress with a large enough majority to stop them. Dems are leading in a load of races, so I expect this to continue. Still, everyone that can should be helping get dems elected everywhere.

2. A few weeks is not going to cut it.
Some of these campaigns (Such as Al Franken's) are close and are going to need large amounts of support to avoid republican tricks.

And everyone gets a chance to vote. The primaries do not end because Clinton exits.

3. Have a look

A very close Race but the republican is holding strong in a contest getting little airtime and little note because of huge amounts of coverage being given on this race.

If we got on the ball sooner rather than later we could help solidify support for democratic candidates for congress so that we can get stuff done!

7. Thankfully that completely backfired.
Yet it is maddening how congressional seat funding was put at risk like that. A president can't do the changes he/she wants unless he/she has a congress to support him/her!

6. And look about Texas for the House!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections_in_Texas%2C_2008

Several chances to gain Democrats to the house!

People are working their butts off around the country for these seats while we discuss crap about the Presidential run.

Is it not time we paid more attention to these critical races?

8. I agree!
Also note that if you go to the State Forums here at DU, you will find much more interested posters there. This is, after all, the primary forum.

9. It is the primary forum but I want to speak to DUers overall.
This is not just one state but many. And there are MANY democrats that will need support so that congress will be firmly blue in 2009.

11. Indeed
Yet some say that it will be "unfair" if Clinton exited before the remaining states. Well sadly it seems few care on one side about how winning a filibuster proof majority in congress is just as important as winning the presidency.

Well the fact is that it IS important. Nobody is going to be told they can't vote for Clinton in upcoming states if she exits.

However, What scares me even more is that Clinton will try for the convention which means months that we do little for Congressional seats.

So I hope this will end and everyone will spend the months of lull time to work on the congressional seats!

13. Yessiree! Nothing's gonna get done if we don't increase majorities in Congress.
Doesn't matter if it's O or H in the WH. Although, I think "suppressing" the Gooper vote by NOT nominating Hillary is going to help a lot.

14. The first part is very important.
Also think Clinton is fully expected by the republicans in congress. So its triple important to get Filibuster proof majorities.
